To whomever is removing the photos that illustrate the sculpture garden, there are numerous examples of other Wikipedia pages where photos of objects contained in sculpture gardens and museums are used to illustrate the subject. I refer you most explicity to the article on "sculpture gardens," which depicts sculptures in various gardens as means of demonstrating what might be found. Please note that the sculptures depicted on that page have no specific critical discussion about them. As noted in the information about each image, they serve an illustrative purpose. In the three images presented here, I have linked the images to content in the article and even offered captions that connect the work to the garden for illustrative purposes. I believe that there is no issue regarding the right to these photos and that is reinforced by the permission of the artists to use them on the Wikipedia article. They are used in no other articles. Please assess this argument and refrain from removing these valid images from the article. Thank you for your respectful consideration. RTW91569 (talk) 05:09, 5 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden Logo.png

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden Logo.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. LGA talkedits 02:30, 24 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ken Macklin

Hello RTW91569,

It seems to me that an article you worked on, Ken Macklin, may be copied from http://art-exchange.com/artistbio.aspx?ArtistID=87998. It's entirely possible that I made a mistake, but I wanted to let you know because Wikipedia is strict about copying from other sites.

It's important that you edit the article and rewrite it in your own words, unless you're absolutely certain nothing in it is copied. If you're not sure how to fix the problem or have any questions, there are people at the help desk who are happy to assist you.

Thank you for helping build a free encyclopedia! MadmanBot (talk) 04:21, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm in the process of creating the article and was trying to test the formatting. I should have used Sandbox. Sorry.

Hello, and thank you for your recent contributions. I appreciate the effort you made for our project, but unfortunately I had to undo your edit(s) because I believe the article was better before you made that change. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! Greenmaven (talk) 04:34, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I'm trying to learn how to do this. It's not as easy as I thought. Please allow a little patience with new people. Thanks.

Speedy deletion nomination of Ken Macklin

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ken Macklin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://art-exchange.com/artistbio.aspx?ArtistID=87998. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I'm trying to make a page for the sculptor Ken Macklin. I realize that I should have done it in a sandbox now. I didn't realize that this was such a terrible thing. This is the third message I've gotten. I am trying to learn how to post to Wikipedia, and the formatting is not instinctive to me. I realize that Wikipedia has to maintain standards, but there has to also be a little patience for people who are learning. Thank you for understanding.

Orphaned non-free media (File:Don Lawler Seedling.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Don Lawler Seedling.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 22:20, 1 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

It was in the article "Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden" but someone chose to delete all of four photos of sculptures from the article. They didn't leave notes as to why. If they knew how hard it was for me to learn to post photos, they might have asked first. lol Thanks for letting me know.

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article, specifically Robert T. Webb Sculpture Garden, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Werieth (talk) 19:39, 5 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

This doesn't tell me what image is a problem. None of the images are of living people. RTW91569 (talk) 03:58, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

All three of the files you are adding back fail WP:NFC. Do not re-add them. Werieth (talk) 10:11, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:William Wareham Sculpture Duende.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:William Wareham Sculpture Duende.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
