Speedy deletion nomination of Holly Jacobs

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Holly Jacobs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Cyber Civil Rights Initiative

edit

@Thine Antique Pen: Hi R. Thanks for your draft. I moved it into article space because it looks fine to me. Regarding your Holly Jacobs redirect, I'm going to edit it so that it links to CCRI, where I think it's better linked. Not sure what Thine Antique Pen's beef is. Hope this clarifies. Briefly, Holly Jacobs is notable for just one thing (her revenge porn campaign) and probably isn't notable enough just yet for an article of her own. But there's no reason why she shouldn't have a redirect.

I'll expand a little at CCRI over the next few days. Further work from you welcome of course. Kind regards. c1cada (talk) 19:20, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, @C1cada:! This is obviously the first Wikipedia page I'm creating, so I'm new to all of this (including the 'talk', hope you see this message). I was trying to create a page for Holly Jacobs because she not only started the End Revenge Porn campaign, but is also the President and director of CCRI. (Perhaps @Thine Antique Pen: deleted it right away because I only had one sentence and source in there about her.) All of the other board members/notable people at CCRI have Wikipedia pages, so I figured she should too. She's also been quoted quite a bit in the media about her experience as a victim of revenge porn and the one who started the campaign and organization. I'd very much appreciate you contributing to the CCRI page, thanks! I'll look to your edits as guidance for future pages that I create/edit.--RCroess (talk) 22:03, 7 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Cheers R. You're very welcome. I had been putting off starting an article for CCRI in the hope someone else might start one. As for Holly Jacobs, I'm not sure she fulfills the Wikipedia notability criteria right now (single event issue), though I don't doubt her importance. Why not rename that "History" section in CCRI as "Holly Jacobs" and expand a little on Holly? Then edit the the existing redirect we made to point directly to that section? Just a suggestion. I don't think I'll have time to edit more at CCRI until later this month.
(Added) Or indeed resubmit an expanded version of the article you tried for that apparently got deleted. Don't let me dissuade you and I certainly won't move to delete. As far as I know you only need to edit the existing redirect page so it becomes an article for her (deleting the redirect bit of course). c1cada (talk) 03:08, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Got it. Good idea on changing the "History" section in CCRI to "Holly Jacobs". I'll consider doing that when I have some time, and adding more content to CCRI.--RCroess (talk) 13:43, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't necessarily take me as an ideal model for a Wikipedia editor by any means! But thanks for the compliment. Best. c1cada (talk) 02:39, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
