Well, an admin would have looked at it and decided whether it was a speedy. I don't think it stands much chance at AfD (but we shall see). Mr Stephen 15:31, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
ARSENAL
hello, do you read this?
i was wondering why you were editing the info i added but your an arsenal fan so now i see why you were interested
why remove the £3,000,000 from the stephen hughes info as that was important as its not often that a player is bought for so much then released
im ok with it, do you got the mighty gooners?
i keep a file of every transfer and every player to play for arsenal since i first went in 1987
would there be any point making a arsenal transfers from 2000 page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by The German Flower Pot (talk • contribs) 15:52, August 6, 2006 (UTC).
Re: Football League First Division
Hello, I honestly didn't think it would be a controversial issue since, as I mentioned on the talk page, there's little-to-no content on the page, and there really isn't anything to be added without being redundant. The number of incoming links isn't what justifies a page, it's the content. I would have no problem working to remove all the redirects if the First Division page is made a redirect page pointing to the FAPL. Don't you think that I did an adequate job including all of the relevant info from the First Division page on the FA Premier League page? I could change the "Origins" section title to "Football League First Division". - Pal 13:07, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- I'll go back and revert the links to the First Division that now point to the FAPL when I get a chance (the ones that go to The Championship aren't as pressing IMO). I made the changes in order to try and negate objections to the FAPL's FAC status, so I'm pretty busy working on that in the time I do have. - Pal 15:16, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks, and sorry about making extra work for you. - Pal 02:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Premier League pictures
In the FA Premier League FAC, you suggested searching Flickr for free use CC images. Looking for an image of the trophy, the best candidate looks to be one taken by... you. Could you possibly upload a cropped version of this? Oldelpaso 20:05, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Any ideas what to do with the Premier League title holders timeline? The timeline format is nice, but it doesn't allow a whole lot of leeway in terms of colors (there's certainly no way to do a blue/white combo for Blackburn). Perhaps using the maroon color for Arsenal that the club wore at home this past season? The only alternative I can think of is a plain list with no colors, of which the page already has quite a few. - Pal 02:52, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. In other matters, I've taken the liberty of using your statement about use of singular/plural in the Talk:Arsenal F.C. archives on Talk:Manchester City F.C., as it is due on the Main Page in a couple of days. Oldelpaso 18:38, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
Premier League FAC
Hey Qwghlm, when you get a chance could you please take another look at both the article and the FAC page? I believe your remaining objections have now been addressed, including a compromise on the FIFA/UEFA issue. Thanks. - Pal 19:59, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Thank you far the barnstar. I didn't request MCFC for the Main Page though, I've no idea who did. Certainly raised my wikistress level when {{Mainpage date}} appeared on the talk page less than 36 hours in advance, in the middle of the FA Premier League FAC. Seeing a number of positive comments about the article on various messageboards more than made up for the endless reverting. 30 years, and we're still here... Oldelpaso 19:18, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for awarding me this barnstar, and also for correcting those redirects for me and being so understanding of the situation! - Pal 19:40, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Arsenal Website removal
Hello,
I was wondering why you removed http://www.arsenal4life.com from the wiki page for being a blog/forum based website. If you look at the other external links that are there:
- http://www.arsenal-land.co.uk/ - Clearly a blog based site
- http://www.arsenal-mania.com/ - a blog (under the guise of articles) and forum based site
I would like to think of the wiki being of an unbiased nature. Kindly please reply here.
192.165.213.18 11:59, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Both sites have sections other than blogs - Arsenal-Land has an extensive history section and Arsenal Mania has statistics and a results archive. Both of them are thus useful resources. Your site on the other hand has very little content, and Alexa.com hasn't even indexed it, let alone given it a ranking [1]. It looks to me like you're using Wikipedia to promote a brand new site with no merits to it at all, which is why I deleted it. Qwghlm 12:57, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I agree that both the other websites cited as examples have sections other than blogs which make them useful resources. However, I would argue that http://www.Arsenal4life.com does have a Photos section featuring matchday photos which will serve as a visual resource as content builds up.
- Indeed http://www.Arsenal4Life.com is a new site and is still under some development and as such perhaps it was premature to add it to the wiki. I will wait until the site (and content) grows and then reapply to have it added.
- OK. As a word of advice, you should be sure hold the copyright for those photos - the Wikipedia linking policy is strongly against linking to sites that breach others' copyright. Qwghlm 14:05, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

I've found some useful information and pictures on the club badges (see Talk:Sheffield Wednesday F.C.). As you are active on the FAC I would value your opinion on its usablity. Cheers. josh (talk) 12:32, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

I don't think you were a hardcase at all. OK the list of improvements was quite large, but they were all valid and constructive. Plus, you actually helped to sort some of them out yourself which is more than most editors would have done. Thanks again, Dan1980 (talk | stalk) 06:42, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Wimbledon F.C. again
I see that editors of the AFC Wimbledon article have added the history of Wimbledon F.C. to the AFCW article. It seems to me that this breaks NPOV, but I'd welcome your opinion as a past veteran of this dispute. --Concrete Cowboy 12:13, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
William Maycock
Hi,
I'm researching all the players who played at Highbury, and I can only find William Maycock on your site - do you know when he played?
Any info would be great, Cheers —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.244.146.110 (talk • contribs) 10:54, September 20, 2006.
- There is a little, but not a lot of information about him in my copy of Jeff Harris and Tony Hogg's Arsenal Who's Who (ISBN 1-899-42903-4). There is a little, but not a lot of information about him in my copy of Jeff Harris and Tony Hogg's Arsenal Who's Who (ISBN 1-899-42903-4). Maycock was born in 1906 and was on Arsenal's books between 1928 and 1931 as a wing forward, mainly as a reserve. He only played one first-team match, in the FA Cup against February 20 1929 against Swindon Town. He retired due to injury in 1931. Arsenal Directors
Hope my additions are helpful, in particular thanks for cleaning them up.
I propose adding Ken Friar (and the Carr brothers if I can find anything on them). --Vivbaker 10:34, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
I note some of the links between board members I added have been removed (e.g. Hill-Wood and Keswick) your call but I thought it useful to demonstrate the tight circle the Arsenal board are drawn from. --Vivbaker 16:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
David Dein
I think the clean-up is merited and pretty successful. I would just make the following comments:
I understood from a member of the FA Board that it was Dein's stand on Agents fees that alienated the other premiership chairmen rather than the Scolari issue. But both probably played a part. You might want to add that Dein was part of the FA panel that recruited Barwick.
I attach the reference relating to Darren being TH14's best man [2]. Personnally I thought the relationship of Dein, Anderson and his son merits comment. [3] and [4].
I note you removed the evidence that Mourinhio's acqusations were factually in-correct. Maybe that gives credit to the conspiracy theory when there should be none. As for the disciplinary issues he probably did try to use his influence occasionally (particularly in a Vieira case) but whether it had any effect is probably debatable.
I'm not sure Dein is in day to day charge of the club, Edelman is managing director, I believe Dein negotiates player transfers and liases with Wenger but he has a strained relationship with Fiszman after a business deal went sour.
As for the quotes I now think the smiling assasin coment was actually made by Dein about Jordan. However an explanation and insight into Dein's character is probably revealed in the Jordan's Interview (attached): [5]
I hope thats some help --Vivbaker 15:40, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Arsenal players
Hi,
Have added a page for Joe Toner that you might like to add your Arsenal expertise to.
Also, in your complete list of players, I have a couple names for your 'unknown first name' group. George Jacques and John Storrs WikiGull
- Thanks for the message - nice expansion. I agree about the Northern Ireland thing - there is a problem with the category for Northern Irish footballers, they all go as Republic of Ireland. I've raised this on the talk page for the category before WikiGull 13:46, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
AfD on Manchester councillor
Hi, I've brought up this AfD: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Abid Chohan, which you had previously commented on a batch of Manchester councillors including Mr Chohan. I think he is one of the least notable entries. Perhaps you feel like commenting? JASpencer 14:11, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Peter Simpson
Hi, I read your recommendation for the renaming, but am not sure. The two Paul Robinsons being named as they are is correct, as they are from the same time period. Personally, I still think it is best how it is. ChristalPalace 19:14, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Hi again. I've read your reply, and can see your point. Positions will probably be best (I do not yet know of any other Peter Simpsons who played/play), as I don't know what the 1930s Simpson's middle initial was. ChristalPalace 20:26, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Dean Windass
I've added a little more detail, and tidied things up a bit. To me, it doesn't read too badly now, but he's a controversial guy, and no doubt someone will come along with another oh-so-witty detail or two before long. Watty1962 00:05, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Firstly, thanks for your constructive comment at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/FIFA World Cup hat-tricks. I have adopted most of your suggestions (all but one, in fact), and I was wondering whether it would be at all possible that you comment on whether this satisfies your objections. Cheers, Daniel.Bryant 09:14, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Was hoping you could run your eye back over this, after the peer reveiw of about two weeks ago. I've done bit here and there, when I can, cut the history down and tried to improve the prose. Rewrote the intro and cleaned up the record sections and got info on most of the managers still looking for the rest though, might have to emaiol the club. It's by no means finished but a quick browse by you would be much apprieciated. Jimmmmmmmmm 14:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Your recent edit to Thierry Henry (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. - The above warning was an automated reponse to this edit - though the warning is in good faith, AntiVandalBot was mistaken on this occasion, I was only trying to enforce the rule that Wikipedia is not censored. Response left here. Qwghlm 00:38, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ahh, the censorship is a known bug but it shouldn't have taken it to that level. We've had some crappy ISP's which is screwing around w/ the connections so all was set to check everything hence some issues. Sry re that - I fixed it -- Tawker 01:52, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
PR to FAC; how long?
Hi there. I noticed one of your comments on the FAC for Leicester City and I have a question about it. Is there a minimum time I should wait between listing an article for peer review and listing it as a candidate for featured article? I put Gilberto Silva up for peer review on October 6 and received one comment - but nothing since then. How long would you recommend til I nominate it as a FAC?
Thank you for your help and wisdom, GilbertoSilvaFan 14:00, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again! Since the article dropped off the peer review page and had no activity for about a week, I decided to take the plunge and finally nominate Gilberto Silva as a featured article candidate. If you have time, I'd greatly appreciate it if you read over the article and voted on whether you think it meets featured article criteria or not. The nomination is at WP:FAC#Gilberto_Silva. Thanks very much, and all the best! -GilbertoSilvaFan 12:34, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
Crad Evans
Hi, Thanks for the message. I can't remember where I got the information from (basically I collated most of what I'm adding on Torquay United about 5 years ago, which is why I sometimes have trouble adding sources), but it was probably a local newspaper. I'm assuming that he never played for Arsenal, but was on their books - I looked on allfootballers as well. WikiGull 17:38, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Seaman's "other" 2
Hi Qwghlm, noticed you removed the 2 from the "other" column on David Seaman's stats section. I don't know what they represent either, so I'm not bothered if you remove them, but they appear in the stats appendix of his autobiography "Safe Hands". Soccerbase has 75 "others", probably the 68 European games, 4 charity shield and 3 miscellaneous. European Super Cup? Makita International?? I don't know. Lies, damned lies and statistics... sʟυмɢυм • т • c 18:17, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Wider columns on LFC seasons
I take your point, but on my old - by no means small monitor, it was incredibly hard to condense the width to fit. Even in its abbreviated form it doesn't fit on many screen. The abbreviated headers were linked, so the title text showed the full competition name, which may be the best compromise. ArtVandelay13 22:51, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

Arsenal players
Hi, you seem to know a lot about Arsenal and stuff.. do you think the Arsenal reserve players with first team squad numbers should be added to the squad on the Arsenal article? -- Mattythewhite 15:46, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I got the numbers from here http://www.arsenal.com/squad.asp?thisNav=Reserves+and+Youth&lid=Reserves+Coaching+Staff&clid=4436. The numbers there are clearly for first team use, for if they were to be called up. -- Mattythewhite 18:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Re:If the club officially gives them a number and a listing in the squad on their website [6], then Wikipedia should follow suit - as you said, if they're listed with a first team number, they should be added. -- Mattythewhite 18:46, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
