Good question. I removed the first edit as there is no need to mention every goal. If we did Alan Shearer's article would be way too long. I removed the second edit as him being knocked out had nothing to do with him scoring the goal. Stay frosty. Quentin X (talk) 15:52, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of CSL Sofas

A tag has been placed on CSL Sofas, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Argument

{{helpme}} Is there a page where you can argue things in a diplomatic way where you can get your point over? Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 21:03, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

  • Nearly everything in Wikipedia has a talk page (much like this one for you.) If you want to discuss a topic, discover its talk page and start there. If you tell me what you want to talk about I'll point you in the right direction. -- Matthew Glennon (T/C\D) 21:15, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

CSL Sofas

{{helpme}} Hi, I want to make a page on the company on CSL Sofas. As you can see above, it keeps getting speedily deleted. Now I have read all the guides to making an article, but I'm still pretty poor at writing it. Could you please help me create this page and help make sure it doesn't get deleted? Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 17:36, 6 January 2010 (UTC)

You can create the article to Special:Mypage/CSL Sofas. There you can improve it without it getting speedily deleted and then have someone check it for you before it gets moved to mainspace. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 17:45, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
I don't have enough knowledge of the company, but if you create the article to Special:Mypage/CSL Sofas, I can clean it up for you. Anyway, I suggest you to get familiar with WP:ORG. Even if the article was written in an encyclopedic way, it might get deleted if it doesn't meet the notability criteria. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 18:18, 6 January 2010 (UTC)
Hey again. I've cleaned the page up a bit and added links to it. You might still want to consider before you move it to mainspace as I am not sure if the company is notable enough to be included in Wikipedia (WP:ORG), and it still might get speedily deleted per A7. Bolton Wanderers Transfers

Thank you for your excellent articles like Bolton Wanderers Transfers; it's excellent to see contributions to an area we don't have much on. However, all articles on Wikipedia have to reference reliable sources. Could you please reference all the articles you've written? Feel free to contact me on my talkpage if you need help. Thanks, Ironholds (talk) 11:10, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

No problem; fixed it. As well as adding a references section you have to put a tag there, either {{Reflist}} or <references/>. I prefer the former; it's a bit more adaptable. Ironholds (talk) 11:16, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Yup, that's fine. Give me a poke if you need any more help. Thanks for you fast response, Ironholds (talk) 11:29, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Notices

{{helpme}} Hi, I have seen on some vandals pages you make messages with Exclamation marks in triangles and blue circles. When I pressed Edit Page it came up with weird codes and stuff. Is there a way to do this quickly or does it have to be done manually? Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 16:09, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Hey Quiggers1P, those are called "warning templates," and the whole list of them can be found here. There's an easy way to put them in, called "substing" (see WP:SUBST). The instructions how to do it are on that first link I gave you. Hope this helps. Further questions? let me know! Fleetflame · whack! whack! · 16:21, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

IP Address Change

{{helpme}} Earlier today my I.P. address was stated as something but then later in the day, changed to something different. Is this normal? Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 21:19, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Yes, this is very common. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has a group of IPs which they can assign to their users. Generally, you get an IP assigned to you when you first go online, and keep that IP until you go offline. Some ISPs, however, will chop and change IPs during your session. Either way, this is normal! -- PhantomSteve/talk|contribs\ 21:28, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

CSL Sofas

Hi. I remember CSL (I think the company I used to work for in Manchester used too have dealings with them). I seem to recall them being based solely in the north west but that is really all I can remember. I haven't lived in Manchester for ten years so I don't know how much use I will be. I don't even know if they are still in business. I can tell you I haven't seen them down here. Good luck with the article. Quentin X (talk) 23:12, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion Tags

{{helpme}} Hi, I know how to put the db tags on to new pages for speedy deletion, but I don't know how to put tags onto the appropriate person's talk page. Could you please tell me how to do that. Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 19:05, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi. If you look at the template that is produced by your {{db}} message, near the bottom it will suggest code (such as {{subst:speedy-warn|...}} to place on the user's talk page. If you go into the article's history, you can find out who initially created the page and click on the "talk" button from there to get to that user's talk page. Good luck, and thanks for watching new pages! --Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 19:09, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
You might also want to look at WP:TWINKLE which helps automate putting speedy notifications on the appropriate users talk page. noq (talk) 20:37, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Boo Bailey

Just a friendly note on Boo Bailey. The bad writing made it awfully hard to figure out (I've cleaned it up), but there's a claim of importance there so I declined the speedy. Notability is doubtful, however, so feel free to prod or take to AfD. Cheers! --Fabrictramp | talk to me 19:57, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Gold Websites

The article Gold Websites has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

List of non notable companies. If they are notable, the information is better placed in the articles of the individual companies.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. HJMitchell You rang? 20:55, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Tag adding

Hey there :) I had a look at your contributions, and I am happy to see only good faith edits there. Don't worry if the speedy delete tags you place on pages get declined - that will happen to everyone. You will get used to tagging. While you study about the tagging, you might want to also try to improve articles by adding cleanup tags to them when needed. For example if you see a page (like Jennifer Smith (Miss North Dakota USA 2004)) that doesn't have any references, is an orphan and a deadend, it doesn't necessarily need to be tagged for speedy deletion as the person who the article is about, might be notable. In that case I suggest you to add tags like {{deadend}}, {{orphan}} and {{unreferencedBLP}}. You can see how I added them in here. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 13:10, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Your interest on English football

Hey. As you said that you are interested in English football, I had a look at pages that you might want to help with. There are many stubs about english football. Category:English football defender stubs, Category:English football midfielder stubs, Category:English football goalkeeper stubs, Category:English football club stubs, Category:English football striker stubs, Category:English football competition stubs, Category:English football biography stubs and Category:English football manager stubs are full of articles that are marked as stub, and need to be expanded. CluebotIII

{{helpme}} Hi, I'm trying to use CluebotIII to archive old threads but it doesn't seem to be working... Could you help me out? Thanks Quiggers1P (talk) 19:14, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

ClueBotIII doesn't check for pages to archive all the time. It can take up to a day for old threads to be archived.
I added a missing colon in the archive prefix to prevent the archive page from being created in the wrong place. I hope you don't mind.
Please let me know if there are any more questions. Thanks! --Mysdaao talk 19:24, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
In addition, I don't think you've got format right, see these instructions. You probably want something like format=Y/M. Hope that helps, GDonato (talk) 19:30, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, looks ok now, may have to wait a bit for the 1st archive GDonato (talk) 20:31, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

CSD tagging

Hey there. I've left you a message at my talk page. You asked me about nominating articles for deletion. There is also another way than AfD. It's called Speedy deletion. It should be only used if it is clear that the page isn't going to be kept in Wikipedia, so if you tag articles, it must be done with extreme care. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 18:51, 14 January 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of =rand(100,100)

A tag has been placed on =rand(100,100) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Proposed deletion of International Gift Giving Day

The article International Gift Giving Day has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

=rand(100,100) and International Gift Giving Day

Hey. Seems like =rand(100,100) was deleted under A7 speedy deletion criteria. It means that the subject of the article wasn't notable/important enough to be included in Wikipedia.

Now about International Gift Giving Day... The article is proposed for deletion. The reason given is: "Can't find any evidence for the use of the phrase. Neologism or something made up by the author." It could help if you can provide references to state that the day actually exists and/or is notable. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 15:34, 15 January 2010 (UTC)

Your editing

Hey there. As you said that you are interested in English football, The Sims games and the Star Wars films, I was looking if they have their own WikiProjects, and it seems like they do. WikiProjects are projects devoted to the management of a specific topic or family of topics within Wikipedia. WikiProject Star Wars, for example, tries to create and maintain Star Wars related articles. The Star Wars wikiproject can be found at WP:SWARS. Actually The Sims and English football don't have their own WikiProjects, but both of them do have task forces. Task force is a subgroup of a larger WikiProject that covers some defined part of the WikiProject's scope... For example The Sims task force is part of WikiProject Video games. English footy task force can be found at WP:EFTF and The Sims task force at WP:SIMS. I hope this helps - IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 06:56, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Oh I forgot. While looking at your edits, I noticed that you don't use edit summaries. Edit summaries should be used as you can explain why you did some edit. It may save you some trouble in future. Trust me ;). IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 06:58, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Carnhell Green

Hey there :) I had a look at your contributions that you have made in the past few days, specifically Carnhell Green. I would like to point out a few things that are not required, but makes it easier for some people to find the article and improve it. One of those things is adding stub tags. Basically, when article is short, a stub tag should be added at the bottom of the article. You can find complete list of stub tags in WP:SST. For example, I added {{Cornwall-geo-stub}} to Carnhell Green article. Another thing to add is categories. This will add the article to "groups" where people can find articles of the subject they are interested in. When I add [[Category:Villages in Cornwall]] to Carnhell Green, it adds the article to Category:Villages in Cornwall. Remember, that category tags are case sensitive. You can see how I made those changes to the article in here. IlyushkaTalk!Contribs 08:27, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
