Meetup edit

Hi there, I noticed you expressed interest in the Birmingham meetup last October. Just letting you know, another UK meetup is in planning stages, here. We need input on where and when we will meet so comments would be much appreciated. Thanks. Majorly (talk) 16:49, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Lagoonssevendistricts.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Lagoonssevendistricts.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 13:09, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Can you help? edit

I see you were listed as a participant in the League of Copy-Editors so it seems likely you can ... The thing is the Military history wikiproject urgently needs prose pros to help with our best articles. Milhist covers a broad range of interesting and varied subjects from film to biography, battles to weaponry, and Roman emperors to twentieth-century dictators. In Milhist, A-Class has become the last port of call before FAC and we are looking for people to help identify prose and MoS issues at A-Class A-Class Reviews and help fix them prior to featured article candidacy. We also have a copy-editing section in our Logistics Dept and that can always use experienced copy-editors. For most of our articles, you don't need to be a specialist in the subject matter, just good with words.

If you think you can help, please do! Thanks for your time, --ROGER DAVIES talk 04:17, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletion debate edit

Agapi, Fantasou Apla and 10 Hronia Mazi (song) should really be deleted unless there is going to be more than a sentence written on each even tho there really can't be. All of the info is available on the albums page or Vandi's page anyway. I'd appreciate your response (keep or delete) on the talk pages for the deletions.

Grk1011 (talk) 20:38, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

No need for the notability tag, I'm working on getting them deleted. Grk1011 (talk) 17:03, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia articles, such as those you made to Fantasou Apla, even if your ultimate intention is to fix them. Such edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. TestEditBot (talk) 17:00, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Sourcemagazinejuly.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Sourcemagazinejuly.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:19, 5 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Copyright concern edit

Hi. The article Mohammed Hadid, which you created, was listed for copyright review at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 December 6. I'm afraid that you did too closely paraphrase your source at [1]. For two examples:

  • the source says, "In 1958 the Iraqi military mounted a coup. The monarchy was overthrown, Iraq was proclaimed a republic and Mr. Hadid was appointed Finance Minister." The article said, "In 1958 the Iraqi military mounted a coup. The monarchy was overthrown, Iraq was proclaimed a republic and Hadid was appointed Minister of Finance...."
  • the source says, "But in 1960 he stepped down from the Cabinet, and by 1961 almost all the other political ministers were gone from it, replaced largely by followers of the country's strongman, Abdul Karim Kassim." The article said, "In 1960 Hadid stepped down from the Cabinet and, by 1961, almost all the other political ministers were gone from it, replaced largely by followers of the country's strongman, Abdul Karim Kassim."

When dealing with copyrighted works that are not compatibly licensed, Wikipedia's policies only permit two methods of handling. We may either quote verbatim brief excerpts (which must be marked with quotation marks or set aside in block quote) or we must rewrite completely in our own words. (See WP:C and WP:NFC.) The kind of close paraphrasing seen in the above examples constitutes a derivative work, I'm afraid, which we are not permitted to publish by policy or by the US copyright law that governs Wikipedia.

I have revised some of the text in this article and removed some to bring it into compliance. You are welcome to replace the removed text with material written in your own words, but please do not restore the text removed as it was.

If you have any questions about this or the policies that I have linked, please let me know. I will be watching your talk page for a time, and you are always welcome to approach me at mine.

Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:30, 14 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Lagoonssevendistricts.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Lagoonssevendistricts.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 19:58, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Sourcemagazine.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sourcemagazine.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 22:53, 6 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of 125 London Wall edit

The article 125 London Wall has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non notable building

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Codf1977 (talk) 19:29, 17 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Articles for deletion nomination of 125 London Wall edit
