Notability; Helpful links edit

Please do not add the names of persons to articles without showing they are notable by link to a Wikipedia article about the person or to a reliable, verifiable, neutral source. See verifying, reliable source and Help:Footnotes. Without such a guideline, the name of almost any person, even fictional people, could be added.

Here are some links to pages with useful information that can help you in editing and writing for Wikipedia:

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages (but not article edits) by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. You may also ask me a question on my user talk page and I will answer it, if I can, or try to refer you to a page or person that might help, the next time I am online at Wikipedia. January 2016 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Maxwell automobile may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • NY factory, Maxwell-Briscoe constructed what was then the largest automobile factory in the world ]] in [[New Castle, Indiana]]. The factory continued as a Chrysler plant until its demolition in 2004.
  • the bargain-basement [[Success Automobile Manufacturing Company|Success]] an amazingly low US$250)<ref name="Clymer, p.32"/>—by introducing the '''Model 25''', their cheapest four yet.<ref name="

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 02:34, 18 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Notable people lists edit

The governing policy for these is WP:NLIST. What you must have before you can add someone to a list is:

  1. Proof of notability. This is satisfied by a Wikilinked bio on the person. On Wikipedia, I find it helpful to remember that notability="qualifies for an article".
  2. Proof of connection to the subject of the article. For a community the connection can be birthplace, current resident, or resided there for a significant part of their life. This must be verifiable by either a reference added to their listing in the community's article or by referenced content in their bio.

Because anyone can edit Wikipedia, we don't consider Wikipedia to be a reliable source for Wikipedia.

Gimme a holler on my talk page if I can ever help. I'm gonna drop you a link to a user friendly forum where you can ask questions, too. Happy editing. John from Idegon (talk) 18:03, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for finding a reference. Here it is, formatted to go right after the last word in your edit: <ref>{{cite web|title=Peter Malnati|url=http://www.pgatour.com/players/player.34466.html|website=Pgatour.com|publisher=PGA|accessdate=24 January 2016}}</ref>. Hope that helps. John from Idegon (talk) 06:45, 24 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
