Fair use rationale for File:Sec Nav Gillies.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Sec Nav Gillies.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. File source problem with File:Gillies Lt Col Promotion Doc.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Gillies Lt Col Promotion Doc.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:41, 22 February 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Dokter Zombieman brains.../the infected 12:41, 22 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

How to publish edit

How does publishing work? edit

Now that I have made a page on Herbert Wayne Gillies, I would like to know how I get it 'published' so that it can be found on a wikipedia search... Apologies for being clueless! Thanks

Hello, Prgillies. Please place this template on top of the page of your draft to submit it for review: {{subst:AFC submission/submit}}
If you placed it correctly you should see a large yellow box on the top saying 'Review Pending' with additional instructions. If the article is approved, it will then be 'published' into mainspace.
Also, please sign your messages. There are two ways to sign your posts:
  1. At the end of your comments simply type four tildes (~), like this: ~~~~.
  2. If you are using the edit toolbar option (it usually appears above the edit screen as a default), click the signature icon:   or  , to add the four tildes.
If you need more help, please reinstate the {{help me}} template again or you can post in my talk page. Welcome to Wikipedia. :)--ObsidinSoul 12:35, 23 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Sec Nav Gillies.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Sec Nav Gillies.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude2 (talk) 06:23, 2 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Telegram Commendatore Gillies006.pdf edit

A tag has been placed on File:Telegram Commendatore Gillies006.pdf requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip (e.g. a Word document or PDF file) that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
