Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit that you made to the page Diptendu Pramanick has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Please use the sandbox for testing any edits; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing for further information. Thank you. Grafen (talk) 16:43, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry. I think I reverted your page-blanking too hastily. I retract the above warning. Feel free to delete if you prefer. Grafen (talk) 16:47, 13 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

New to Wikipedia, am not sure how to respond to you, so am putting my comments here. I was creating this page as a test and realized some of the things needed verification before going public. Did not know of sandbox then. I will create this article on Diptendu Pramanick shortly. Also someone deleted his name from the Calcutta University Alumni list. I guess of all the names present, an alumni who rose to the post of a Secretary of a National level film federation is "NOTABLE" enough. So it should stay. The references will be added in due course. Thanks.

A tag has been placed on Ghalib's ghazals requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. andy (talk) 16:23, 16 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ghalib's ghazals Ghalib was a 19th century poet, his works are all over the place and cannot be a copyright violation. Smriti.com has a compilation, so should wikipedia have some. The formatting etc can be improved upon. However to call some language nonsense just because you don't understand the meaning is crass. I guess new editors in Wiki are not supposed to be pounced upon. SP 02:10, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I have the permission from the originator to use. His reference could be added without a need to delete the page.SP 13:13, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Dipt athome.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dipt athome.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I understand from an ealrier notification here (by FinalRapture) that the bot was malfunctioning, and this message is in error. The mentioned image is very much in use in Diptendu Pramanick.SP 10:00, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Can you show me the link / tell me how to delete photos after uploading. Also how to change the license of an uploaded image? SP 13:13, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --SchuminWeb (Talk) 20:29, 3 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:Dipt suit.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Dipt suit.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:29, 4 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Request for FUR standardisation

edit

The reason for the standardisation request, (it's not a deletion notice so it CAN be ignored), is so that the images that do have rationales don't get confused with those that genuinely don't have them.

It also speeds up and aids the efforts of those trying to ensure all images actually have rationales.

In my own view, the policy about needing rationales to be in a 'standard' form is wrong, and I might take that up in the appropriate places.

In respect of the specfic issue, If you'd like to suggest a form of words that will enable automated tools to tell the difference between an image that has no-rationale compared to one that isn't using the template form, then I am open to suggestions. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:50, 6 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

edit

Good to know it was a standardization request ONLY. I guess if the rationale is present and Wiki policy allows it to be in a paragraph format - standardization is a frill for those who have time. SP 16:59, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space

edit

Hey there Pramanick, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:Pramanick. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

  • See a log of files removed today here.

RE: Federation of Film Societies of India

edit

I think you had two sources, one of which wasn't cited (making it an external link rather than a source), but its a little redundant now that you have added and cited more links. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 09:01, 15 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at User talk:Skamecrazy123, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.
