Image:Styles-clash.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Styles-clash.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok 04:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Minor Edits

edit

Hi, I'm glad to see your continuing work on Wikipedia! However, I'd like for you to be a little more careful in your use of the "minor edit" checkbox, however. Regarding your recent edit to the Statue of Liberty play page, you added an entire paragraph of text and marked it as minor. This isn't a minor edit. It looks as if you were adding back text that was deleted by a vandal, but without an edit summary (say something like "rv vandalism" if you're reverting vandalism without adding/changing anything to the page) it's hard to know. For more info, see Help:Minor edit and Wikipedia:Recent changes patrol. Thanks, and good luck continuing to contribute! --Rodzilla (talk) 07:52, 7 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Bafta or BAFTA? The BBC News has it has Bafta... which is correct do you know? Kneale 13:01, 12 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Had an email of the BBC:

Thank you for your email.

It is the style of BBC News Online to spell all acronyms that are read like a word (Unesco, Aids, Nato and Unep) in lower case. Acronyms that have each letter sounded (BBC, IPCC and FBI) are written in upper case.

This style is intended to help the reader scan the page. It is adopted by a number of publishing groups and is not unique to us.

300 Edits

Maybe you were new and unaware of this, but the use of the minor edit checkbox is for very small edits, like spelling or spacing, etc. Many people do not pay attention to minor edits, expecting that sort of thing. There are some deceptive editors out there who will mark as minor some fairly drastic edits, and it won't be caught immediately. I am not remotely saying you are one of these people, but understand that an edit beyond the simple stuff needs to be added as a normal edit. Thought I'd save you from some future headaches and misunderstandings. Cheers!Arcayne 12:54, 11 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please not the tag above the plot. We are trying to trim the plot done, not add to it. Wikipedia is not a substitution for watching the film, so plots should not get into lots of details about what is going on.  BIGNOLE   (Question?)  (What I do)  12:15, 12 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

UCF/MEAC

edit

Hi there. I'd rather avoid an edit war, so we should probably resolve this MEAC/UCF thing. UCF's web site mentions nothing about having been a member of the MEAC that I can find, and this page on UCF's site with a fairly detailed timeline of their football history makes no reference to it [1], and in fact it doesn't even mention them playing any MEAC teams, which would kind of be a requirement for being in the conference; the MEAC's web site mentions nothing about UCF having been a member that I can find; the standings printed in the Official NCAA Football Records Books for each year (which I have sitting next to me) up until UCF moved to Division I-A list UCF as an independent. Do you have some credible and verifiable source which says they were in the MEAC? JFMorse 13:30, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:DDR_3rd_Mix.png

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:DDR_3rd_Mix.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC). Image:Latin-american-exchange.jpg

edit

I have tagged Image:Latin-american-exchange.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again.
