Serena Williams

edit

Hi! I wanted to leave you some quick notes about the Williams article:

  • When it comes to the main person of the article, Wikipedia convention is to refer to the titular person by their last name. Other family members can be referred to by their first names, though.
  • Make sure that you're very careful about how you phrase things when it comes to controversies and controversial topics. It's really easy to take a specific stance without meaning to, especially when it comes to topics that deal with racism and discrimination in general. Even if it seems like many would agree with you, it's important to try to sound as neutral as possible and when it comes to major claims or opinions, it's important to attribute these to the person(s) making them.

I made some tweaks to the section, mostly to attribute and change the use of the first name. I also added an introductory sentence for the section. As a somewhat aside, it's a bit surprising that this section wasn't already in the article given the amount of coverage out there about this topic.
