Speedy deletion nomination of Caucher Birkar edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Caucher Birkar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. --IShadowed 19:57, 17 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Mala Pareshan edit

Hello Pirehelokan,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mala Pareshan for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. • ArtsRescuer 14:10, 18 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Touraj Atabaki speedy declined-- again edit

This certainly looks notable and clearly does not meet criterion for CSD. Also, this was detagged by Ritchie333. Any user detagging a CSD would render an article ineligible, but Ritchie is an admin. You might want to consider AfD if you believe the subject is non-notable. Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 02:32, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Dlohcierekim:Thanks for your note. The article does not include any reliable reference. I also checked Persian and Azarbayjani Wikipedia. Couldnot find any good reference there either. According to the article, the person is a Prof. There are hundreds of profs around the world with tonnes of books and papers. It does not mean anything. Notability must be supported by reliable and independent sources. I see this article more of like a self-promotion. It just has the website of the person in it! And, yes, I saw @Ritchie333:'s edit. I thought he/she just revoked my edit because I didn't use the proper code for CSD. Caz in summary of edit he/she wrote not valid CSD criteria. Plus, it does not matter if a user is an admin or a newcomer. In Wikipedia, all users have the right to edit regardless of their rank or role.
There is a big difference between "asserting significance" and meeting notability. Certainly Ritchie could have deleted the thing under the correct CSD if he thought it met CSD criteria. As would I have. Certainly a chaired professor asserts significance. Did you search for sourcing in Dutch? He teaches in Dutch universities. My advice would be to take it to AfD if sources cannot be found. Dlohcierekim (talk) 03:12, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Dlohcierekim: I strongly disagree that being a chaired Prof asserts significance. A considerable deal of academics experience being the chair of a school or a department for a while. And how many of them exist? I mean chairs. Hundreds of thousands? Millions? Only gods know. Anyway, have no time to argue about that. I will add a patch for references. Hopefully, someone would delve into the internet and find those wonderful references someday and add them. Pirehelo (talk) 04:13, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Or you could take it to AfD. Up to you. Cheers, Dlohcierekim (talk) 04:15, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
@Dlohcierekim:, Okay. Thanks a lot. Pirehelo (talk) 04:27, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion contested: Heydar Latifiyan edit

Hello Pirehelokan. I am just letting you know that I contested the speedy deletion of Heydar Latifiyan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: If you believe the subject to be unnotable, use Articles for Deletion instead. Thank you. BangJan1999 19:05, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

@BangJan1999: Thanks for leaving this note. May I ask on what basis? In Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion, an article can be nominated for speedy deletion because of A7. No indication of importance (people, animals, organizations, web content, events). Pirehelo (talk) 19:16, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
A7 is for articles that do not even try to make a credible claim as to why the subject in question might be notable, which I believe is not applicable for the article in question. BangJan1999 19:20, 23 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 184.144.54.236. This is not a public IP. I don't know why your algorithm/admins thought so. I believe this is triggered automatically perhaps because of connecting with multiple devices? Pirehelo (talk) 18:58, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

You are able to edit other pages, meaning you are not currently blocked. Yamla (talk) 20:45, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Additionally, that IP address is running open services on port 50001, as well as being globally blocked across all Wikimedia projects. --Yamla (talk) 20:46, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Yamla:, That is my home internet and not a public IP! I primarily use that connection to edit Wikipedia. What do you mean by IP address is running open services on port 50001. Can you explain that to a non-IT expert? Pirehelo (talk) 21:38, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
It means you are running a service open to the Internet. I can't tell exactly whether it's a proxy open to the world, but the block log indicates it might be OpenVPN. The global block log points to this page for more information. --Yamla (talk) 21:44, 29 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Reference formatting edit

Hello, thanks for your edit to Civil engineering, but I had to remove the reference you added, because it was malformatted and doesn't even contain a page number. I have never encountered an editor trying to add a reference in the format you did (i.e. squeezing everything into the title parameter), let alone someone whose been editing here for eleven years. @Graham87:, Thanks for leaving this message here. The automatic feature for adding books by ISBN/title did not work. So, I just added title. I'll fix it later. Thanks. Pirehelo (talk) 05:00, 28 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
