Userpage stuff

Yes, eavesdropping, thats how I found out about you fixing MONGO's (who has helped me since I joined this place) userpage. :) I dont use IE, so I never knew about the flaw, thank you very much for pointing it out for me! (And taking the time to take a picture of it and upload it!) I really like the modifications you designed (especially the fonts, and border thickness), however, is there any way to make it a more blueish color? About the same as links is what I'm thinking of. How long did it take you to do all that??

About Esperanza, the link from Knowledge of Self above will tell you a fair amount (if you havent found out already). The "e" in my sig (indeed, any green letter you see in people's signatures links to Esperanza. Esperanza is an organization of kind wikipedians, aiming to spread the wikilove around and serve wikipedia by preventing users from leaving the project. We try to make people feel appreciated for their work, and monitor stress levels and signs of users leaving wikipedia. We also have a few programs, here, which involve revamping userpages (my programming is useless, so I stay away from there) and among others, admin coaching, which I am helping with. There is also a calendar where wikipedians put their birthdays and first edit days and other holidays. Other Esperanzians will send them greetings on these days. We also hand out barnstars to make people feel that their contributions get noticed. In conclusion, Esperanza could do with kind people like you! :)There is a lot more I can tell you, but this message is way too long already!

Thanks for reverting the vandal (user:71.194.115.95) on my page. I had been impressed by his cleverness, until I realized he was quoting what I had said about his own vanity article. (I wonder if that confirms his point?) I've given him a day in the time-out corner for his pains, but I suspect it's low yield. If he's related to the Robert Fairweather debacle of a year and a half ago, then he's on a dynamic IP and won't show up again for a long while. Why, I am delighted. I was nominated once, and I do have to admit that I had a problem with some policies on Wikipedia - most of which I have worked on. Now, I seriously doubt that I would want to try out to be an administrator - I have found myself in deep disagreement with blocking policies, and what not, of admins. I am not to fond of some users being given rights that others do not have, so I really don't feel that I should be promoted to something I don't agree with. Film Project

I see you added my article Follow Me, Boys! to the Film Project, which is fine. Right after that, someone added my my article Island in the Sky (1953 film) to the project. However, there is another Undisputed (film) that no one has added yet. Could you add it? Since I'm not familiar with your project, I don't want to do it and possibly goof it up. Frank Hamer

Hi! My brother wrote the original Frank Hamer article, which, as you noted, while factually correct, was way too political. Since he is no longer writing for wikipedia, I rewrote the article, and I believe you will find the things you objected to have been corrected. i was very fair in reporting facts without calling name number one. ON this one, you did the right thing, though I think someone who writes something like that should be barred for life. Good contributers -- like my brother -- were driven from this project by cruelty, certainly this woman deserved better, heck any human being deserves better. i was horrified that anyone would use such language about you, or any other human being. I suppose I am speaking now as an old man. I am going to be 55 this year, and remember when no one would say such things about a woman, (not trying to be sexist, just honest!) and politeness was an imperative of civil society. The sad part is that we who grew up in the 50's and 60's really believed we were making a better world. It appears we failed sadly! A person making personal attacks of this type should be barred forever from this project! On a personal note, I am the original author of the Frank Hamer article. i wanted to thank you for your wording of the critique you made of it. The facts are true, and I can exhaustively prove every one. HOWEVER, you were absolutely right that the language was way overboard, and needed changing. i wanted to thank you for your professional observations that the article was way too inflamatory, true or not, (and it was true!). Good morning! I have rewritten the Frank Hamer article, with an attempt to eliminate the trigger phrases that you referred to, and to try to be fair. The biography does source every fact cited, and what I tried in the rewrite to get accross was that people perception on this man depend on your core beliefs: if you think a company has the right to use any means it has to to prevent a strike from ruining it, you support Frank Hamer; if you are pro-union, or anti-use-of-force-by businesses, Hamer does not come off so well. As for the Bonnie and Clyde part, no one now disputes that she was not wanted for any capital offense, but i still changed the words "murder" to "possible," because the fact is, no court is going to rule whether he committed a crime or not,all we can do is present the facts. Anyway, I asked Kate, and would like you also, to take a look at the rewrite, and please be as blunt as possible. old windy bear 16:14, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

The article you nominated for deletion

I don't completely understand this myself, but I believe that I deleted that article just as you were moninating it for speedy. When this happens, due to a bug in the software, the revision created by the original author gets deleted and the article gets recreated, with only the revision of the person who nominated it for speedy. Because of this, I actually had to delete the article twice. This is quite annoying and has caused confusion before, but I don't know if it will ever be fixed. Thank you for your support in my RfA. It is good to see another Oklahoman here. (I'm in Bartlesville). When I am bored with illuminated manuscripts, I pick at List of Registered Historic Places in Oklahoma. I'd like to eventually see every historic site in the state have an article. Since you are in OKC, I thought you might like to have a go at some of those sites.
