White Horse

Would you mind going over the changes on "White Horse" and then comment on Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/White Horse (song)/1. Thank you. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:39, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Update

Goingg on track so i'm moving my projected finish date from the end of the month to the 26. May move it up sooner :), but don't wanna jinx myself lol. Candyo32 23:17, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

So I think I'll take up the offer of the end of the month now after reconsidering. I know your gonna be displeased with me :( lolllll haha, but we have Saturday school on saturday, which is also the end of the grading period, in addition to a play I have to do, and a three scholarships due in early April. So hopefully March 30 now. And jsyk, my edits haven't been other projects I really only check up on bad edits to the FL/GA's to keep them in check, just in case you though I'm putting something else *coughs* (Bieber...) before TEOM, lol. Summertime

Hi Nathan. I hope you are fine. I am not upset. I appreciate you a lot and i know, whatever you will do for me, it will be for my best. I will do a c/e myself. I know i went too fast. Actually, i rushed because in a few weeks i will leave Wikipedia (a 6 month break). But i know that this is not a valid reason to rush with a GAN. Thank you anyway. I will re-nominate it as soon as i finish the c/e. Jivesh Talk2Me 01:24, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Please explain this to me:

"Fighting Temptation," Beyoncé, MC Lyte, and Free discover that they're not fighting temptation as much as they're looking for the right one. A coy Missy recognizes a certain pleasure in the sins that drive people to Sunday service, but her "party people" in the end are really no different from the Sunday church choir that looks to exorcise sin (here, the constant gaze of playboys and playas) via song. The song's beat and female battle cry is trumped only by its spiritual braggadocio: "If you touch us we gonna altercation/Warn Missy you's impersonator/I got so much ice I even scare Jacob."

Jivesh Talk2Me 13:26, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

Thank you infinitely Nathan. You are very helpful. Really, thank you a lot for always sparing some time for me. You are just a great friend. Jivesh Talk2Me 17:50, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
You are most welcome Nathan. Goodnight for now. I have to prepare a speech for tomorrow on "African Woman". See you soon. Take care. Jivesh Talk2Me 18:17, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

RE:Mimi

What? That sounds great, but I hope her voice is better now. And, I heard she's going back to Sony? Is it true? You're right, she better come back strong :D Novice7 (talk) 03:10, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

OMG I loved Up Out My Face (until I overplayed it lol). I'm more hopeful for the second collaboration, seeing that UOMF kinda flopped. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:19, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Really? Lol, I didn't like UOMF or much of Memoirs :( Its my least favorite Carey album to date. I guess its alright though. Well yes, I mean it got no promo, no push from the label and radios weren't going to play a single from Mariah from a re-hashed remix album after 2 flop singles. I'm hoping for a better and stronger song from them this time :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 04:22, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I like Obsessed, Angels Cry, UOMF and Inseparable (all, except Obsessed, I've only heard the remixes with other artists, though). I was considering buying Memoirs... Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:30, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
If you're going to buy a Mariah album, there are much better than Memoirs lol, as I said, its her absolute worst, in all aspects, vocally, creatively lol. Yes, those three I like, but "Inseparable" is very bland, nothing original or innovative. I expect a lot from her lol. BTW, are you excited for Beyonce's new single? :D--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 04:37, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Oh well, let's wait and see :) Novice7 (talk) 05:47, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
I like HATEU as well. :-) Nah, when I'm not broke (lol) the next album I'll buy will probably be the Beyonce Experience, or do you think I should get TEO Mimi? And I am DESPARATE for BB's new song! Adabow (talk · contribs) 07:02, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
As Nathan said, Memoirs is one of Mariah's weaker albums. Hmmm.. TEOM is good, but if you want to listen to good old Mariah, I suggest Butterfly, Daydream or Music Box. If you'd like to, you can buy Rainbow too :D Novice7 (talk) 07:09, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
TEOM is very good too, the whole album is good. But yes, Butterfly is just an pop and R&B masterpiece, and Music Box is just such warm and beautiful pop ballads and melodies. Those two are my favorite :) Ohhh, hahaha, well she should be coming out within the month!--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 15:00, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
Personally, i like MOAIA. I mean i love all the songs on it. My favorites are "Angel Cry" (Original), "Inseparable", "H.A.T.E.U", "Obsessed", "Standing O", "Betcha Gon' Know" and the one i cannot stop listening to is "I Want To Know What Love Is". This song is flawless in my opinion. I have no words to describe Mariah's vocals. By the way Adabow, Beyonce Experience is really nice (100 times better than I Am Yours. Jokes apart). I have the album. In fact it is the only Beyonce album i have. I live Mauritius and here we do not get access to original CDs of International artist but the one i have is original. I have a friend, Jhalesh who is very rich. He bought it for me on my birthday. Trust me, none of you can imagine my joy on that day. Holding a Beyonce CD in my hands was just like a dream come true. And it is really expensive. If i convert it into dollars, then it is going to be $45. Well perhaps for you it is not a lot, however, my parents will never give me so much money to buy a CD. Re: Bionic review

I don't understand why you quick failed it. You could have simply pointed out some things needing fixing. I nominated it to be reviewed, and all you did was generally point out issues and fail it just like that. No putting it on hold, nothing. I am actually kind of insulted, you just saw some general things needing fixing and gave up. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how it looks to me. I've been trying to get this article to GA quality for months now, and you failing it just like that, yes, insults me. nding·start 02:45, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

I definitely don't feel targeted. I don't think you meant any real harm by it, but yes, it did upset me. I'm sorry if I sounded a bit bitchy, I was just quite upset at the time. xD I understand the problems with the lead, yeah, but what I don't understand is the references. What exactly is wrong with them? Spring break is almost over, so I don't really have time right now to get it done, so I won't be re-nominating it just yet. If you could go into more detail for more outside of GA that would be great. I just don't wanna nominate it again, and not have time, and it fail again. nding·start 18:30, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you so much. It seemed pretty prepared to me, but I guess you're right, it really wasn't. xD I understand where you're coming from. It's good to see the GA reviews are being taken more seriously recently. I will get right on the fixes. :) Thanks again. nding·start 01:26, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Mariah Carey

In regards to this edit. I can't imagine why you think that Wikipedia is a greeting cards service. If you want to wish Carey a Happy Birthday, send her a card. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 21:44, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Technically, it is vandalism because you removed the dispute over her birthyear. Also, that violates MoS. Great, you're happy that one of your prized/favorite/whatever singers is turning older, but that's not a custom at Wikipedia. We might as well just edit the article of every celebrity on their birthday in a similar fashion. Estheroliver (talk) 05:09, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

MTV Unplugged

Hi there Nathan! So, I could not find much about it, but here are a few reviews (or which can be considered as reviews):

I'll try to find out more. Novice7 (talk) 03:43, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

You're most welcome. I found out EW review - [1], and maybe this too. Novice7 (talk) 07:41, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Can you please help me?

69.14.99.128 is constantly changing the genre of Born to Make You Happy, adding "bubblegum pop" up. There is no reliable source that specifies the song genre as bubblegum pop. I've created a section on the talk page, so it can be discussed. - Sauloviegas (talk) 17:06, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Work It Out (Beyoncé Knowles song)

Hi Nathan. Hope you are fine as always. Listen, i really need you to fix a section of the article. Adabow and Jimee did a c/e but the reviewer is not satisfied. So could you re-write a few sentences of the Context and release section with reference to the comments here.? Please. Only 2 days are left. Jivesh Talk2Me 11:41, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Actually, Beyonce also played Foxy Cleopatra in the music video for the song. In a way, the music video is like a summary of the movie. Well Nathan, if you really do not understand, then you may only re-write the sentences at which the reviewer pointed out. Jivesh Talk2Me 16:44, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Wow, it was Mimi's birthday yesterday and guess what........... Today is Lady GaGa's. Jivesh Talk2Me 16:53, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Nathan. Jivesh Talk2Me 17:10, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
What is the difference between birthday and anniversary? Jivesh Talk2Me 17:09, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Mimi does not like to celebrate birthdays. Anniversary is practically the same thing, but in Mimi style :) Novice7 (talk) 17:14, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Ah okay. By the way Novice, i am so happy. I managed to get 5 As at school. I even got an A in my most horrible subject (Physics). Jivesh Talk2Me 17:17, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Wow, congrats Jivesh. Keep up the good work! Okay, so, it's a bit late here, so bye :) Novice7 (talk) 17:19, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Same for me. I am going to bed. Goodnight. Jivesh Talk2Me 17:25, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
I understand what you mean. But soundtrack singles require one. For instance look at "Listen (song)". This is why i asked Jimee to do one for "Work It Out". Jivesh Talk2Me 04:46, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
Nathan, please re-write the two sentences at which the reviewer pointed out in the context section. Yes, i will be very happy if you could c/e the rest too. Thank you. Jivesh Talk2Me 04:57, 31 March 2011 (UTC)
Thank you my friend. Have sweet dreams. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:23, 31 March 2011 (UTC)

I found something unpleasant

Hi Nathan, i hope you are fine. I saw that Tbhotch and you are not in good terms. So i wanted to know why you both fought in the past. For that, i started looking at your archives (talk-page) and i found something. Well, curiosity is really not a good thing. I wish i had never done so. I know that i am not a saint but was it necessary to criticize me? Please do not misunderstand me Nathan. I sincerely like our friendship and i swear that i am not angry. Just a little sad. I never thought you would say that. Jivesh Talk2Me 16:55, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay Nathan, as i told you (up), i am not angry. It's just that i was a bit sad. Concerning my work on Beyonce, only Candy has constantly been criticizing it. Not only discussing about it with you but with a couple of other editors. Do you know how many times i contacted him for help? But he never responds. He is always on Ciara and Justin Bieber. ALWAYS. As evident as it is , i would not have waited for him for a whole eternity. I think the same thing is happening for you, i mean he promised to finish a certain Mimi article if i am not wrong.

Nathan, i hope you are not angry. We are friends now. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:26, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you so much for re-assuring me. I am no longer sad. I really like you being my friend. Concerning Candy, he never replies unless i talk to him about Ciara. That is why i did all my GAs without waiting for him otherwise

  • 40% of an article=2 months

Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive

On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.

During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,

  • 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
  • 423 GA nominations passed.
  • 72 GA nominations failed.
  • 27 GA nominations were on hold.

We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.

At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).

While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).

If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.

Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.

April 2011

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for disruptively editing while logged out, as   Confirmed by checkuser at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Petergriffin9901. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. T. Canens (talk) 12:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Talk to me a bit, Nathan. I don't know why you read my comments like you did: I certainly was acting like I knew you, and wasn't going to reach for the normal solution of indefinitely blocking. Others saw your rant and decided to, because apparently the CU evidence is quite compelling. There's still a path out of here if you can explain to me for a moment what on earth is going on. You had become a good editor, and this isn't what I've come to expect.—Kww(talk) 14:30, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Honestly, what am I supposed to say Kevin, I have been stabbed in the back and practically thrown out of here for nothing. Good work doesn't stand here, which is why most long standing editors leave. I was blocked for uploading two photos around 6 months ago. I mistakingly thought they were property of a friend and posted them. Instead of leaving me a simple message, which would have done more than the trick and explained it to me, I got a one week or more block. How can this be normal or fair? Supposedly a block is to prevent immediate danger to Wikipedia. What danger an I posing? What danger have I ever caused except better it? Because 2 random IP edits blanked a user page (even less offense than an article page because it doesn't disrupt the readers) and I'm automatically indefinitely blocked. Do you think this is fair? Here, you're work mean nothing, no one puts into consideration the countless work I put in here, only when it comes to BS little things that I have no part in, the sword is quickly drawn. And yes Kevin, that is how I feel. This investigation was handled as though some terrorist was destroying Wiki pages by the minute, not a veteran editor who is somehow linked to two random IP edits. And the sad part is, you were the one behind it, egging on this investigation and fueling it further, instead of just leaving me a damn message, which is what I ask. Is it so hard to discuss something with an editor before making this whole campaign. Not only that, look where I am now. You said you would choose a solution. I don't see that at all. I see me being locked out of a place I put time and work into. Honestly, I'm not asking for anyone to believe me. I understand that the normal routine of Wikipedia and its tests have led to believe I'm part of this, but I'm not. And honestly, to ask that you believe me I don't find so hard. What are you gambling? You really think the second this block is off I intend to vandalize a few articles. Whatever, honestly, I've been stabbed in the back here so many times that this doesn't in any way surprise me. I doubt I'll even be able to save this message to my page.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 17:50, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Being a veteran editor is the reason that I didn't block you when the checkuser came back positive. The main reason I wanted the checkuser was because all evidence I had shows that you edit from a different network than the IP used. What I was expecting was that the checkuser would come back negative, we could show that to Tbhotch, everyone could calm down, and life would proceed. If we didn't run it, you would be under a cloud of suspicion that I didn't think was reasonable. I certainly didn't expect the checkuser and later autoblocks to confirm your involvement.
What you haven't provided me here is anything I can use to justify undoing a block that another admin performed. Give me more to work with, and I'll see what can be done.—Kww(talk) 18:02, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
I guess I understand. I didn't see it that way, but I guess that was you're intention. I mean, I don't know what to tell you. I am not going to admit to something that I didn't do. Alright Kevin, I appreciate you're effort. I'll await you're response.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 18:14, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
There's nothing there I can use to override another admin's block, especially one based on CU results. My only advice in the face of actual innocence is to request an unblock based on that fact, and ask for a review of the checkuser results. Be polite and non-accusatory, and you stand a chance.—Kww(talk) 18:23, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Kevin, you and I both know that will not go through. They will decline me. Whats the point of even trying. Why am I blocked though, if I pose no danger?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 18:25, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Actually, you know better than I what IP addresses you use. If that IP address really is one on your network, you're right. If it's not, and it's just that both are in Miami, I can work with that. If it's a different network, specifically point that out in your unblock request.—Kww(talk) 18:34, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't know Kevin. I honestly don't want to base it on something that I'm not sure about, and maybe back fire on me. I mean, can I ask, what point is there in blocking me? Is it a punishment? I see no other reason or purpose. So what about all my pending projects and works, do I abandon them?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 19:06, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
I don't know how you couldn't be sure whether you use AT&T or not. Right now, the logic being used for your block is simply that you deny wrongdoing, and checkuser says that it was you. Unblocks aren't given out to people that don't show signs of understanding that their behaviour was blockable and won't repeat it, and right now the blocking admin has basically taken the stance that you were caught red-handed and are now lying about it. That doesn't give him confidence that you won't repeat the behaviour. I'm withholding judgment: I want to believe you, but I haven't got any evidence to support unblocking you.—Kww(talk) 23:34, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
Nathan, what happened? I mean i know they blocked you. You are so nice to everybody. Always willing to help. Those who block you certainly do not know you well. Won't you ever come back? I saw the work "indefinitely", is is for always? Jivesh Talk2Me 05:57, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I was thinking the same thing :( Novice7 (talk) 06:00, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for you're support guys! It means a lot! I'm going to try and come back, we'll see how this goes with Kevin. When I fix this, I'll explain it all to you guys. To Kevin, I mean I need some help here, I don't consider advising me to use the template very helpful advice. If I tell you that I "admit" to it, and say it was a dumb prank that had no intention of hurting wiki but just giving a user a little slap on the wrist, and it wouldn't happen again, is that what you're looking for? Well then, that is what I have concluded, please come back Kevin and lets try and sort this like you said we would--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 08:03, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Nathan, I strongly advise you to read WP:UNBLOCK if you have not already, then write a damn good appeal. Adabow (talk · contribs) 08:16, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes Nathan, like Adabow said. We need you back! Novice7 (talk) 08:18, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
We all really miss you Nathan. As we say, we realize how important someone is when he/she goes far away from us. Please do whatever you can to come back. You will have my support. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:41, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Nathan, the only thing I can say is that a user that screwed up can normally be forgiven. If the story of "slap on the wrist" is true, an indefinite block is a harsher reaction than such an event would normally justify, and I could have a discussion with Timothy Canens on that basis, perhaps with another probationary period. That said, I would need some pretty strong assurances that you wouldn't repeat such a thing. What could possibly provoke you into such behaviour?—Kww(talk) 16:33, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

I guess all I can ask is that you trust me. I never made a deal with you and broke it have I? I think that after a year probation and more than a year successfully off it, I think my word is at least as good as that. I mean, you can see, my focus on Wikipedia is all work, I have successfully promoted 2 FLs and around 25 GAs, I think my word and my work should speak for itself.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:36, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
The problem is that I'm not supposed to undo another admin's blocks without either his permission or strong mitigating circumstances. Absent a detailed explanation, I can't do anything.—Kww(talk) 16:44, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
I see. Can you speak to him? I would, but as you see I'm confined to this page. He blocked me out of anger from my comment on the CU page, not for any other reason. He really doesn't know me, my work or anything about me. You do. Do you think you can ask him to allow you to take over this "case"?--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 16:55, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Not without an explanation that makes sense. He didn't block you out of anger, he blocked you because you appeared to be being dishonest about your behaviour. I haven't got anything concrete to use against that, and comments like "When I fix this, I'll explain it all to you guys" don't help me argue with him. What's there to explain to Novice7 and Jivesh that you can't explain to Timothy Caneus and I?—Kww(talk) 17:04, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Why are you implying that I'm going to scheme with them. In simplest form, they are my friends and I'm going to chat with them after and just talk. There is nothing else to say other than what I told you. Stupid prank, didn't think it would be overblown into a big deal, won't happen again and that's about it. And I didn't say Timothy did it out of anger, I said out of anger towards my comment of the CU. I really don't know what else to say, please unblock me. I feel this is extreme.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 19:14, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Let's be clear: you are no longer denying that it was you?—Kww(talk) 20:39, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Right. And it won't happen again.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 21:06, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Given the circumstances, I'm not inclined to immediately undo the block. You've done something you had promised me you would never do again. You've lied to me about it (repeatedly). You've attempted to play on my trust to get an unblock without admitting your wrongdoing. I've shortened your block to an additional 72 hours, rather than its current infinite length. I'll see you in 3 days. Be warned, though: I'm both angry and disappointed. There will be no block shortening in the future, and you know from experience how patient I am at hunting down socks. Don't repeat this.—Kww(talk) 21:19, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Kevin. I would honestly really love to chat with you through email, because I'm afraid to say anything that could hurt me here. Let me know if you're interested. Also, I noticed you are curious as to my feelings towards Tbhotch. Being that I imagine you will be hearing a distorted version from him, I would love to share it with you. Its all caused from an FAC, in which he tried to promote "Halo". As a friend, I spent over an hour outlining all issues I could find here, trying to honestly help him in what I failed in a few times. When it came time for me however, we had a small dispute over its importance and as a result, before even approaching my talk page, he slapped an oppose on me on that basis. I was very hurt by it, even coming to him after, a little upset. He removed the comment and furthered it. That is about it. Just so you have my side as well. Also, please help me and revert the vandalism done to "Always Be My Baby", it bothers me a lot to see it damaged.--CallMeNathanTalk2Me 05:15, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
