- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Coenocytic Tetrad.gif
editHi, I'm intrigued by your image of developing pollen grains. Can you tell me a bit more about what is showing in the image. I see that there are four areas with several dark spots in each. What would the dark spots be, chromosomes, the developing exine? Thanks. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 15:13, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks sminthopsis84! The dark spots in the image are chromosomes. As the name suggests, the image is of 4 not-separated microspores. This development stage is followed by compartmentalization of the four microspores through the formation of intersporal callose walls (intine and exine are not yet formed) leading to tetrad formation which, in turn, is followed by the dissolve of callose wall (thick visible outer wall in the image) and release of individual microspores. Only now the formation of pollen wall (intine and exine) begins! pbadhikari (talk) ```` 00:18, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Neat! I've added a little to the explanation on pollen, in case anyone else wants to know. Best wishes, Sminthopsis84 (talk) 14:35, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
