You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself. This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.

Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.

If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. (See Wikipedia:Wikipedians with articles.) Thank you. - Happysailor 20:18, 2 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane; threatens, attacks or impersonates another person; or suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior is not tolerated. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. 5 albert square (talk) 01:29, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm not going to comment on the block itself, but I will, based on your username, point out our guidelines on conflict of interest. Assuming that you are the individual who is the subject of the article you created, please note that creating or editing one's autobiography is generally discouraged. However, from an administrative standpoint, I see nothing inappropriate about this username. I will contact the blocking administrator for clarification. Thank you for your patience. --Kinu t/c 02:50, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
    • And, as a show of good faith, I've actually updated the bio, tidied it up a bit, etc. It definitely is our mission to have articles on notable individuals, and this article undoubtedly falls within that scope. Your contributions so far are appreciated. --Kinu t/c 04:07, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

[[Thanks, Kinu. I am not the indivudual who is the subject of the article. The individual is the US Ambassador to Malaysia. I am merely updating the Ambassador's revised bio. Thanks so much for updating/tiding it up. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.]]Paul W. Jones (talk) 04:58, 1 April 2011 (UTC)MalarReply

  • Thanks for your response and for clarifying. That being said, I would actually suggest that you change your username to something other than your current one. Generally, usernames that are similar to those of notable individuals, especially when you are the one creating/editing the article on said notable individual, are generally frowned upon for various reasons. I would be willing to assist you in that process if you so choose. --Kinu t/c 06:16, 1 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am just updating the reviewed bio for wikipedia for U.S. ambassador to Malaysia, Mr Paul W. Jones. If it is a problem please advise me how to rectify it

Accept reason:

OK, I accept your reason, and I am unblocking you but it is on the condition that you change your username. I actually looked on it as being promotional because you redirected your page and your talk page to the article. 5 albert square (talk) 22:55, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you unblocking the account, Happy Sailor. I will try and change the username.Paul W. Jones (talk) 07:15, 4 April 2011 (UTC)MalarReply

Thanks for your advice, Kinu. I will change the username and I definitely need your help in doing so. Please lemme know how to go about doing it.Paul W. Jones (talk) 07:15, 4 April 2011 (UTC)MalarReply

  • The easiest way to do so would be to place a request here, using the template that's provided with your choice of new username. A bureaucrat (a user with the ability to perform the actual name change) will then take care of it for you. --Kinu t/c 16:54, 4 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

To remove the box on the top of the article

edit

Hi editors,

1. Have fulfilled the in-line citation requirements as stated in the box above the article. Can you verify that the referencing is done correctly and is sufficient to have the box removed? If not, please advise the necessary and correct steps to accomplish this

2. The links to the blog, facebook and twitter accounts of the subject's spouse have been removed. Is the current sentence now abiding to the wiki's policies?

Thanks.
