Help with Akkadian Gilgamesh Tablet 6 edit

Hi, I saw that you recently corrected my entry to Dumuzid the Shepherd with regard to Tammuz' mention in Gilgamesh Tablet Six. I do not know Akkadian, but I had found a translation of the Epic in English, that I cannot find out who the author was. When it gets to that part of the tablet covering Gilgamesh's retort to Inanna, it breaks into rhymed verse, including this couplet: "First was Tammuz, the virgin boy you took / after a three-year-long seductive look." The translation seem to take a bit of license in comparison with other translations, that say here instead that she caused Tammuz to be mourned "year after year". Since one of the Dumuzids was supposed to be Gilgamesh's immediate predecessor in Uruk, I am very interested to know what the text would be in Akkadian, and if there is perhaps any possible way to translate it "three years", -- or is this just a shoddy translation? Thanks, Til Eulenspiegel (talk) 14:19, 2 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
