Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Japan Political and Economic News", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it appears to be the name of an organisation. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Hello. Japan Political and Economic News is just my blog, not any kind of organisation. I hope this is still OK? Japan Political and Economic News (talk) 13:55, 27 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

No, you will need to change your username, usernames cannot be that of any website. 331dot (talk) 10:31, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Given that you have so few recent edits, consider abandoning this account and starting a new one as easier than requesting a name change. David notMD (talk) 11:42, 15 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Publish versus save

edit

"Publish" saves what you are working on. This would include a draft, your Sandbox, your User page, etc. The content will be public in that other editors can see it if they know where to look. For example, you create a draft "Square tomatos." Any outside search (Google, other) will not find it. A search inside Wikipedia on "Square tomatos" will not find it. However, if other activity by you comes to the attention of any editor and that person wants to see what else you have done, they can go to you User or Talk page, click on View history, and then click on Contributions for you. That will yield, with a few exceptions, all of your contributions, everywhere. Drafts and Sandboxe that are Speedy deleted by an Administrator vanish without a trace. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:58, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

JPEN, Japan Political and economic news is not an company or organisation, it is my hobby just like adding Japan Political and economic information to Wikipedia is. I don't see any need to have to change my username as I am not advertising anything. I don't even use any kind of branding on my page and not even a custom email address with the domain jpen.online. I hope this can be reviewed as it doesn't make any sense based on the reason I was blocked Japan Political and Economic News (talk) 05:42, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The blocking admin says you are spamming your blog, are you linking to your own blog? As I discussed above, if "Japan Political and Economic News" is the name of your website, (which it is) your username will need to be changed. 331dot (talk) 07:08, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

My website is called jpen.online and you're right, it stands for Japan Political &Economic News. so if that's a problem (even though I have not advertised this anywhere) I am happy to close this account and use my other account dtesolat. Is that OK?

No, that is not OK. The block is on you as a person, not just this account. You may not edit under any account until this block is removed. Perhaps you don't need to change the name of this account if you have another, but you still must address the block reason here first. Your other account does not seem to be registered here, but you shouldn't use it yet. 331dot (talk) 12:40, 21 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
my other account? I'm not sure I understand. I think the easiest thing for me to do it to change my username as I'd prefer not to have to set up a new account and not be able to follow the pages I have already created.
If you tell me how to change it to jpen or osakajo or any such name, I am happy to do so. I had no intention to spam or advertise my site, just used a name that I use on other sites to keep things compact.
Please let me know how I can change my name, Japan Political and Economic News (talk) 04:21, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Seeing that there is no answer to this and you have actually blocked my other account dtesolat and vapinglies for what I am not actually sure since dtesolat or vapinglies doesnt sound spammy to me. I will just request a name change to this account and abandon my others. Just to say though, instead of moving to ban people right of the bat, explaining things the first time would probably be a better move. Your tone is really hostile. Japan Political and Economic News (talk) 06:22, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I am not intending to be hostile. I apologize. I prefer to directly express my concerns. No account exists by the name of "Dtesolat", at least on this wiki. "vapinglies" does exist. We don't usually unblock sock accounts, but you may follow the instructions above to make an unblock request that also proposes a new username. 331dot (talk) 06:50, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I see that as I was typing this your account was renamed. You may then make a standard unblock request now that the username issue is resolved. 331dot (talk) 06:52, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
I will note that you were warned about your username at the top of this page. You are blocked, not banned, there is a difference. Most admins have a low tolerance of spamming and promotion. 331dot (talk) 06:54, 26 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
