OTH is an American teen, young adult created by fan fiction writer(s) DC, Johnny Bardell, Axel, and Kate. The fan fiction aired on May 20, 2011, and was originally meant to be a one-shot, but due to popularity the one-shot was turned into a full season. Each season consists of 10 episodes each. The fiction has one episode each to air on a daily basis, but some episodes have aired back to back or 2 days later. The fiction takes place in the fictional town of Tree Hill, prior to its first generation series, One Tree Hill. OTH is simply a spin-off from there.

The show follows the life of James Lucas "Jamie" Scott (Colton Haynes), whom is now 16-years old, and is dating Madison Scavo (Selena Gomez), whom is best friends with Desirae Ragland (Logan Browning) a girl who is stuck choosing between Andre Fields (Marcus T. Paulk) or Carlos Tuggaro (Hector David Jr.), who happens to be the brother of Celia Tuggaro (Shay Mitchell). Lily Roe (AnnaSophia Robb) also moves to town and focuses on Chuck Scolnik (Alex Pettyfer). The series also focuses on some of the adults that are now either regulars or recurring such as Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) and Haley James-Scott (Bethany Joy Galeotti), whom has remarried since the first generation ended. Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) must take on Julian Baker's (Austin Nichols) pleads for her affections and juggle her feelings for Felix Tuggaro (Michael Copon), whom has returned to put to his family in a better environment.

The first season, which aired on May 20, 2011 and ended on May 30, 2011, received 2,263 hits and 13 reviews, which DC and Bardell were surprised about. DC had recently commented on the reviews stating that as long as the reviews out-weighed the chapters there would always be another season. So due to there only being 10 chapters a season, there would be a season 2. It was officially confirmed on May 31, 2011, which is the date the second season aired. The second is stated to have 10 seasons as well and will close the chapter on the current Junior's years. It is unknown if they will return with a 3rd season which will have the characters as seniors.

Major storylines include Jamie Scott dealing with Haley James's and Nathan Scott's divorce. Madison Scavo dealing with her mother, Elizabeth's neglect. Desriae Ragland falling in love with Andre Fields, whom is dealing with his mother's cancer. Desirae is also falling for her opposite Carlos Tuggaro. Jamie also deals with choosing Celia Tuggaro over Madison as Lily Roe moves to Tree Hill, due to a loss and finds herself in the arms of Chuck Scolnik.

The second season puts basketball aside as the characters' head into their final semester as juniors. Jamie is in a relationship with Celia, whom is falling for her ex Randy Everett, this sparks a dark Tuggaro secret to come to surface. A secret that Brooke has made her own and it could jeopardize her marriage with Julian. Carlos and Madison start to grow as friends and maybe even closer as Desirae can't accept nor face the facts. Jamie also deals with the dangers of taking pills. Lily also learns she and Chuck are not compatible. Nathan must deal with Haley's amnesia as Lucas and Peyton rebuild their marriage as well.

The third season not only juggles the aftermath of Brooke and Julian's car accident, but Brooke learns that she has been pregnant and doesn't know it, Brooke isn't the only one that's pregnant, Celia is too. Jamie starts to think he's the father, but he learns Randy is. Carlos and Madison start to secretly date and soon Desirae finds out. Meanwhile, Chuck and Lily move in together, prompting Lucas to put his foot down. Meanwhile, Haley and Nathan think it's time they move.

The fourth season will show us everything there is, especially when someone's life is torn upside down due to a car crashing through the school. Jamie and Madison start to date again. Celia goes through with her pregnancy. Carlos and Desirae find their way back to one another as Lily and Chuck decide to stand up to Lucas. A main storyline includes Celia giving birth and Madison dealing with her internet boyfriend.

The fifth season takes on a 4 year time jump as Madison and Jamie are going through a marriage, which takes place in the season finale and a pregnancy. Celia is happier than ever as she has just been casted in a movie. Justin makes his final attack, and it leaves him dead. Desirae not only learns she's pregnant, but she is offered a designing job, in New York.

The eighth season will be a season of bliss for these characters as Jamie and Madison have battled everything and now they will take on the biggest of them all, a girl accusing Jamie of sexual harassment. As Carlos and Desirae go through their pregnacy, Celia faces Randy's return with a truckload of promises and Celia needs his help. Desirae has her baby. Carlos even proposes to her.

The nineth season the final season and a chapter that will close lives. As Madison and Jamie learn that Jamie is going to be playing basketball again. Madison becomes a singer. Carlos opens up a shop that sells guitars and Desirae is still a fashion designer. Lily and Chuck have return and Lily opens up an art gallery and Chuck is not a police man. Celia is now a movie star. The final scene shows Jamie going to the river court and then Madison placing her hands over his eyes and she whispers "Guess who?" which was the first line in the series.
