Iran Bar Association vs. Iran Central Bar Association

edit

Hi Omid, I noticed that you moved the page Iran Bar Association to Iran Central Bar Association recently, explaining that the second name was more accurate. However, the article's sources all consistently use the term "Iran Bar Association" or the acronym "IBA" to refer to the organization. Additionally, the [organization's website] itself displays the words "Iran Bar Association" at the top of the page, although I can't read the rest of the text because it's in Persian so I can't say what the usual Persian wording is. Thus, I would say that the article's previous name of Iran Bar Association would be more accurate, and I would then suggest that we keep that name for the article. But I didn't want to just go and move the page without consulting you first, so I would like to hear what you think in more detail. Could you elaborate on why you consider Iran Central Bar Association to be a more accurate title? (Ideally providing sources that support this so that we could cite them in the article when mentioning this)

Thanks, 3 kids in a trenchcoat (talk) 01:49, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@3 kids in a trenchcoat: Hi, thank you for your attention. In Iran, there is no official organization called the Iranian Bar Association And every province has a bar association. Rather, we have the National Union of Bar Associations [1]

But the first bar association in Iran is called the central Bar Association, and three other provinces that do not have bar associations are also subdivisions. Because it was the first Bar association in Iran, it is sometimes mistakenly called by this name, But if you look at the photo of the Central Bar Association photo of the Central Bar Association on its Persian page, You can see that the full and correct name there, which was officially written by the Bar Association itself, is the Iranian Bentral Bar Association of the Center. best regardsOmid (talk) 09:27, 21 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

@Omid: Ah, I see. I've found a source in English corroborating the first part of what you said here [2] so I should be able to add this to the article with no problem. Do you have sources on hand for the statement that the Central Bar Association is sometimes mistakenly called simply the Iran Bar Association? Because I think that information could be a very useful addition to the article. (I apologize if this comes across as harsh, I believe what you say but I'm just a stickler for citing sources lol)
Thanks,

@3 kids in a trenchcoat: Hi, I have not seen such an article, because no one has paid attention to this before, Even my colleagues in the Informatics Department of the Central Bar Association. But if you pay attention to the site of the Central Bar Association,[ICBAR.ir] Which stands for Central Iranian Bar Association...here we can be the first to pay attention to this point :)...Omid (talk) 08:55, 23 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
