Morinville Community High School edit

As you have contacted me to indicate that the Morinville Community High School page is a project of your students, I feel compelled to point out some problems with the page that you and your students must address:

  1. The article is almost entirely unreferenced. Material that cannot be verified by citations from reliable sources may be removed from Wikipedia.
  2. Much of the material that has been submitted would be appropriate for the school paper or yearbook, but not for a global encyclopedia. References to local phenomena ("regionalization") and entities ("Legal"? I presume this is another local school district, but I can't be sure) must be explained so that the wider audience can understand them. Material about the school that is only of interest to students of the school (such as the audition process for the school musical) should be avoided altogether.
  3. Articles must be kept factual and neutral. Material praising the qualities of wolves and their merits as a school mascot are not appropriate for an encyclopedia.
  4. Your students should study some of the formatting features of Wikipedia in order to produce a more readable article.
  5. Your students must learn to use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization.

You, as their teacher, should review the guidelines of School and university projects to assure that you are using Wikipedia properly as a teaching tool.

Good luck!! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 13:42, 10 May 2011 (UTC)Reply
