Linear Diophantine equations theorem edit

Hi there. It's true that x = ( c2 + 1 )/(2ac) and y = ( c2 - 1 )/(2bc) are a solution to the equation ax+by=c, but the solutions of Diophantine equations are required to be integers, and in general the above solution is not integral. For example the solution to x+y = 2 given by the abover method is x = 5/4, y=3/4. In fact unless c = 1 the solution will never be an integer since c doesn't divide c2±1 for other c.

This is a perfectly good example of how Diophantine equations may have no solutions in integers even if they have infinitely many solutions in rational numbers, and it'd be better to phrase it like that on the article rather than claim the other (correct) result about solutions to the equation is wrong. Hope that helps, Chenxlee (talk) 14:08, 15 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your kind words. nilaish (talk) 13:03, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

A sequel to the solution of ax + by = c edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article A sequel to the solution of ax + by = c, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of A sequel to the solution of ax + by = c. Electronic world directory of mathematicians edit

A tag has been placed on Electronic world directory of mathematicians requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - Richfife (talk) 16:42, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Electronic World Directory of Mathematicians is a directory maintained by International Mathematical Union. I hope you will understand the gravity of the discussion. It does not mean that you don't know something should be deleted. nilaish (talk) 13:00, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

MfD removal of User:Nilaish edit

Let me know why it is nominated for deletion. There are many users who write about themselves, delete their page as well. I would request that please contact user before deleting the page. Also, you can't decide notability only based on online evidences. Please consider the references as they are well reputed news sources in our country. If you would prefer to delete the page, I would then go ahead and file a defamation suit on wikipedia and people who are inflicting this issue. Please refrain in future doing such activities. nilaish (talk) 12:57, 29 May 2015 (UTC) The edit was done by the user. Thank you nilaish (talk) 13:41, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
