Pumped Up Kicks edit

There's so many problems with the information that you're adding, I'm not sure where to begin.

  1. Urban Dictionary is not a reliable source. It is comprised entirely of user contributions and would be the equivalent of citing a Wikipedia article within a Wikipedia article.
  2. Your disregard for WP:CITE is grounds for reverting. If the information you add is not from a reliable source, or in the case of the chord progression, has no source at all, then it plain and simple, shouldn't be added. It's not helping the article when you add prose that cannot be reliably verified.
  3. How does any of the info you added about the "pumped up kicks" phrase tie into the song? None of it enlightens the reader any further about the song's meaning, it only states the meaning of a slang used in the song. That doesn't tell me anything about why the phrase is significant or needs definition in the first place.
  4. WP:IAR is not a license to do whatever you want and flout official policies of Wikipedia.
  5. Someone violating WP:3RR telling me about 3RR? Pot kettle black. Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talkcontributions) 15:47, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Re: Pumped Up Kicks edit

I know Urban Dictionary is not a reliable source. But slang phrases don't have reliable sources, and language is alive. In my opinion WP:IAR fits in such cases. Nikos 1993 (talk) 15:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Template:Non-free use rationale/doc edit

While the ability to directly profit from an image is one consideration under WP:NFCC#3b, it is not the only one. For example, a copyright holder may benefit indirectly from being the only source of a high-resolution version of the image even if they do not profit directly from it, or a copyright holder may obtain some manner of non-monetary benefit from an image. Other parts of your edit are also problematic: there is no general exemption to the low-resolution requirement for screenshots or "simple" graphics, and giving positive guidance for SVGs would be preferable to avoid a resurrection of the "SVGs have no resolution, so they cannot be 'low' resolution, so they must be deleted!" argument. Speedy deletion nomination of KernelEx edit

A tag has been placed on KernelEx requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you.  Blanchardb -MeMyEarsMyMouth- timed 14:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Server Core Notepad File Save Dialog.gif edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Server Core Notepad File Save Dialog.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 11:19, 26 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For your information edit

Proposed deletion of Pyranol edit

The article Pyranol has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources, orphan, hardly any views on this non-notable topic (Wikipedia does not have articles for any of the compounds shown)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

You turned what was originally a redirect into an article illustrating non-notable chemicals. I now propose it be deleted following the procedure at WP:PROD. Mike Turnbull (talk) 10:48, 7 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
