If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Brighton and Sussex Medico-Chirurgical Society requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://brightonmedchi.org.uk/, https://brightonmedchi.org.uk/about/what-we-do, and https://brightonmedchi.org.uk/about/past-presidents. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. eviolite (talk) 15:19, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

I am the webmaster and sit on the committee. The words from the website are mine. There is no infringement. I would hope you remove this Nickdal123456 (talk) 15:23, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
As the message mentions, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. In any case, that text is not suitable for Wikipedia as it is far too promotional to have an encyclopedic tone. eviolite (talk) 15:25, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
In addition, please read our conflict-of-interest guidelines (the FAQ for organizations may also be helpful); we strongly discourage editing articles that you have an external relationship with and you must disclose your conflict of interest. In particular, you are required by the terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. (Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure). eviolite (talk) 15:28, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
This is an actual joke right. We want to share historical information here and you wont let me because it is "promotional" Nickdal123456 (talk) 15:31, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
You (or your organization) appear to have misunderstood the purpose of Wikipedia. We are not here to mirror your site or give your organization a larger platform. Rather, we summarize information available in reliable, independent, secondary sources; if something has not been covered by them, it is not notable for inclusion. eviolite (talk) 16:08, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
How is it different to this?
McDonald's Nickdal123456 (talk) 17:38, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Please read my comment. The article for McDonald's is written by summarizing information from independent, reliable sources, certainly not their own website. In particular, it is written from a third-person point of view, as a neutral source would. eviolite (talk) 18:11, 23 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
