Jin Yong's Wuxia novels
editHi, I see that you've been actively contributing to Wuxia novels recently. I'm quite impressed with the timeline of events and the Lin Pingzhi's family tree you've done on The Smiling, Proud Wanderer. It was an excellent job in helping others have a better overview of the novel's plot. I've written an extremely long plot summary for the novel as well and I'm quite troubled now on how to shorten it. It's far too long and I've no idea how to shorten it. The same goes for that on The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber. I've shortened the plot summary for The Legend of the Condor Heroes and I've received angry complaints from some people on that issue. You can take a look at the talk page. You seem very well read on the novels though, so perhaps you can help me with the plot summaries?
By the way, I see you've created a page for the list of characters from A Deadly Secret. The list of notable characters from this particular novel is not as long as for the other novels, such as Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils. Therefore, I think it's perfectly alright to leave the list of characters on the same page as the novel itself. Please see the other considerably shorter novels such as The Book and the Sword and Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain. The character list remains on the same page as the novel itself. You might want to consider requesting for deleting List of characters in A Deadly Secret.
I thank you for your help and hope you enjoy your stay on Wikipedia.

Condor Trilogy
editI've completed the timeline for The Legend of the Condor Heroes. I'll leave the other two novels to you. Please help me check and see if there's any unnecessary information that can be removed. Only the key points are required. Thanks. Lonelydarksky (talk) 14:19, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I've fixed some of the dates, with reference from [[1]] and [[2]], as I believe that they are more accurate. Newfraferz87 (talk) 04:34, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, I see that you aren't as active on Wuxia articles lately as you were months ago. The timeline for Yi Tian Tu Long Ji on the Condor Trilogy page is not complete yet and I was hoping that we can finish working on it as soon as possible. I think we can start the WikiProject:Wuxia as you've suggested some time ago. Thanks and hope to see you back soon. Lonelydarksky (talk) 07:03, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for reminding, but I may not be very active on Wikipedia, especially on Wuxia articles from now till late November, for I will need to concentrate more on my studies. Thanks
Platform layout
editHi, I've undid your edit to MacPherson MRT Station as it is incorrect. Do take a look at the picture here, it indicates the concourse on B1, CCL platforms on B2 (island), and DTL platforms on B3 (side). Here's the concourse planview. :) - oahiyeel talk 10:51, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
How can you get that Yang Kang born at 1205 and death at September 1223? Newone (talk) 10:17, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, the timeline (hopefully it's accurate) for the first two books of the trilogy is completed. You can check it out here. Newfraferz87 (talk) 00:18, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Wuxia sects
editHey pal, I've split up the content for the sects on top of the List of organisations in Wuxia fiction into separate articles. You can find them here. I've also made some changes to the sects on the list and classified those sects under which Wuxia novels they appear in. Please take a look and see what improvements you can make. Thanks. _LDS (talk) 01:30, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, thanks for all your work. Newfraferz87 (talk) 06:59, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Gong Zhu
editThank you very much for your beautiful work on the article Gong Zhu. Simply amazing table of contents in the scoring section.

Problem
editWe've one big problem with some Wuxia articles. A large part of the work is OR and there're very little sources in English available for citation. Our works may seem very impressive to Wuxia fans and "Jin Yong"-philes but definitely not to someone who adheres firmly to Wikipedia's policies. I think only few of our works will survive if Wikipedia conducts a "purge" on articles containing more than 50% of OR. All the sects and the timelines may have to go, and maybe some of the lists of the characters as well. Any ideas on how to resolve this problem? _LDS (talk) 09:10, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- Good point. Perhaps we can copy the important OR articles to a particular webpage or fansite? Then it is possible for us to simplify the articles on Wikipedia and cite references to that webpage. We will also have to find more English articles related to Jin Yong's works. Newfraferz87 (talk) 09:57, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
- That's cheating, in a way, and using a self-published piece of work as a source. It's rather risky, but we can try, if you want. _LDS (talk) 10:03, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Personal question
editHey pal, were/are you from HCI? I saw you editing some HCI-related articles lately. _LDS (talk) 10:05, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yep - you guessed it. (I'm studying at the High School section.) Glad to be your junior, my friend! NoNews! 11:49, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Now I'm starting to miss my high school days. I see you've a new signature. _LDS (talk) 14:09, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
HCI page
editHey junior, we've got some problem on our school's page. An editor (Bali ultimate) removed certain sections from the article, including the section about the school uniform. See the talk page for more details. Maybe you can express your opinions on those issues? _LDS (talk) 15:03, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Go to Wikipedia_talk:SGpedians'_notice_board instead. We don't want to be accused of breaching some Wikipedian guideline by "secretly conspiring" outside of Wikipedia. _LDS (talk) 08:12, 3 January 2010 (UTC)
Wuxia adaptations
editHi, can you help me on creating pages for the adaptations of Jin Yong's Wuxia novels? Especially those by Zhang Jizhong. I don't want to see this template that I've created go to waste. Thanks. _LDS (talk) 15:42, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject Wuxia
editHey, I've decided to start the WikiProject Wuxia, as you've suggested. You can see my talk page for a discussion on that. _LDS (talk) 14:24, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, check out the project banner that I've created here. It's not quite nicely done. Maybe you can come up with something better? _LDS (talk) 15:53, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, I think I've filled in all the essential details on the test page. Please take a look and see if you can make any further improvements. It'll become the real thing soon. _LDS (talk) 14:27, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Happy Chinese New Year
editSorry for the late greetings, but still, a happy Chinese New Year to you! Do help out on the test page, because I'm planning to realise it in maybe less than a week's time. Hope we'll continue working well together on WikiProject Wuxia! Cheers! _LDS (talk) 11:38, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks. Happy new year to you too. NoNews! 13:02, 16 February 2010 (UTC)
Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils
editI believe you've read my message on Talk:Xiao Feng and your recent edits seem to suggest that you've chosen option 1. Can we work together to summarize the plot for Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, because there'll be a lot of repetition? The current info on the novels' page will be split into the three articles for the characters. What's going to stay behind is a short plot summary, which only covers the parts where their storylines overlap, as well as some background info for each individual, in brief. _LDS (talk) 14:33, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- That will be good, for the first four books of the novels talk separately about each character and his adventures and there are rather few direct links between them. Thanks for your suggestion. Just a question though: are you planning to rename the article to "Qiao Feng" instead? NoNews! 13:38, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. But there seems to be a problem when I tried to move Xiao Feng to Qiao Feng. _LDS (talk) 03:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
- Done. An admin helped me move it. _LDS (talk) 05:49, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
- Yes. But there seems to be a problem when I tried to move Xiao Feng to Qiao Feng. _LDS (talk) 03:43, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

editHi, do you mind doing an editor review for me here? Thanks. _LDS (talk) 14:57, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
FA/GA nominations
editI intend to nominate some of our works for FA/GA, but I'm not sure which to choose. Which articles do you think are the best written ones by us? We'll focus on improving them and maybe we'll see them on the front page one day. Currently, I've in mind the three protagonists of the Condor Trilogy, Ouyang Feng and Zhou Botong. Your thoughts? _LDS (talk) 15:00, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sure! For the characters that you mentioned, I think they are alright, except that more character descriptions and (if possible) how and why the author characterises them this way can also be added. Qiao Feng and Wei Xiaobao can also be good articles if they are expanded well, since their personalities are quite different from other main protagonists.
- P.S. I don't really feel the pictures on the articles of Zhou Botong, Wei Xiaobao and Yang Kang actually fit with their personality; perhaps you can get them changed? Thanks. NoNews! 01:21, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- As you've probably noticed, I've tagged all the parts in the articles that may constitute OR, for convenience when we add in citations. For the cn tags, I think we just need to cite the chapter in the book. But for the OR tags, those parts either need to be removed or rewritten (and supported with references) to make them seem less POV. Let's start with Guo Jing, since you've added quite a bit of references.
- As for the pictures, well, it's not easy to find pictures on the net that are directly screenshots from films or TV. A lot of pictures that I've found, show the actor/actress in costume posing for a photo, possibly meant for the promotion poster. Some pictures also have the website's logo attached in one corner, so I've avoided using those. Such pictures are not suitable to be used. Screenshots from the movies or the TV series are the best ones. _LDS (talk) 04:49, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

We need to expand the biography or else the picture will make the sections look very "squeezed" and compressed. By the way, I've changed Huang Xiaoming to Jordan Chan in the infobox, since many fans seem to agree that Chan was the best Wei Xiaobao actor. See here, here and here. The discussers in the last link, however, seem to agree that Tony Leung was the best Wei Xiaobao. I intend to add in another Tony Leung picture, but the article needs to be expanded first in terms of text, so that the pictures won't look too big and "domineering". 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 16:04, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
- I think we're back to where we started again. It's not possible to use an image in the character infobox that'll suit everyone's preference. We need to avoid an image-changing war, since every time a new image is uploaded, the old one will be listed for deletion, and this will make the uploader very unhappy. Then if the uploader insists that the old image stays, it'll end up in an image-changing war. To make this fair for everyone, I think we should not upload any more images for the characters. I've proposed for deletion all the character images that I've uploaded. Please do the same for the Yang Kang and Zhao Liang pictures you've uploaded. 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 05:16, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- Err, so now you are trying to turn all the articles "pictureless"? Or do you want the pictures to be replaced with montages instead (e.g. cropped sections from DVD covers)? NoNews! 12:23, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- If we're going to use montages, then we must make sure that every single actor who played that character before is represented, to be fair. The difficult part about this is that pictures from some very old TV series and films, especially those from the 50s and 60s, are really hard to find. Take for example Huang Yaoshi, it's not easy to get a picture of Shih Kien as him, unless maybe we go to a film archive. Back to my point, montages are fine, provided that every actor is represented. 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 13:11, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
- And to add on to my point about images that are difficult to find, please take a look at The Return of the Condor Heroes (1976 TV series). I can't even find a decent VCD/DVD cover for the series. That black and white photo is the best picture I found... 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 13:19, 9 April 2010 (UTC)
WikiProject Wuxia
editIt's quite dead for some time. We need to attract more new members. Simon hasn't been around since February, so it' just the two of us currently. I asked NeoBatfreak twice to join, but he hasn't replied yet. Maybe you can ask some of your class/schoolmates who're interested in Wuxia to join? 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 05:58, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- That's also possible, but I currently do not know anyone around me that is BOTH interested in Wuxia fiction and an active member on Wikipedia. I'll ask around first. NoNews! 06:00, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Nanjing Metro
Foxrunmall (talk) 14:03, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
NoNews! 14:28, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Zhou Zhiruo has been proposed for deletion
editHi, please see Talk:Zhou Zhiruo and join the discussion there. Thanks. 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 05:11, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
- As you've probably noticed, Zhou Zhiruo is going to be proposed for an AFD soon. I'm busy with studies and won't be spending much time on Wikipedia now, so I need your help to save the article from deletion. I've found some sources containing interesting information about Zhou Zhiruo, that I think can be added into the article. However, they're in Chinese and need to be translated. I've also requested assistance from NeoBatfreak, so maybe you can communicate and work with him on that. I'll pop in whenever I can to help out. Thanks. Here're the websites:
- 我看周芷若 - a reader's review on Zhou Zhiruo's character
- 惊天大秘密!张三丰为何送周芷若上峨嵋 - fan's POV on why Zhang Sanfeng sent Zhou Zhiruo to Emei
- 金庸人物排行榜 - rankings of Jin Yong characters. You can find Zhou Zhiruo's name here.

- Hey, I see that you're working on recreating the section about the races in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils that I previously worked on two years ago. Now see what happened six months later. This section involves original research and you may need lots of supporting references. I've also read somewhere before that which character represents which race depends on the reader's personal interpretation. It's not definite. Thoughts? 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 15:18, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps. For a person who doesn't really know much about these races in Buddhism cosmology, it's really bewildering and confusing to see the connections between it and the characters in the novel and thus this section isn't fit enough to put in a Wikipedia article. However, it is useful to be used as some reference (on its own) for readers to find out more about the development of the novel, the modelling of the characters and also the Buddhist cosmology (regarding the races) itself. NoNews! 02:32, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yes indeed it's difficult to see the connections. The back cover of the DVD box for Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils (2003 TV series), which I bought in Taiwan, also had brief descriptions on which character represents which race. When I compared them with others that I found on the Net, I was surprised to see that there were very significant differences. :) 暗無天日 contact me (聯絡) 04:52, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Khanhoo
editHello User:Newfraferz87, I'm a card game researcher looking for historical informations on the game Khanhoo. A few days ago I got in touch with User:Ccyber5 who kindly provided some info on he game. You can access our chat on my talk page. I wonder if you could do a little research and find me some historical information from a site or book in Chinese language. Dates, names, places and references are also important. The game is known in China as Káan ú, Kan'u, K'anhu, Kanhu, or Dohu, as mentioned by User:Ccyber5. Also, if you'd please take a look at Khanhoo and add the corresponding Chinese characters to the name of the suits and cards, and wherever you see fit, that would be deeply appreciated.
Maybe you could contact one of your fellow Users who knows how to play the game by using the Chinese rules described on the Suits section, so that he could contribute with a couple of addtional rules, that would also come in handy. Thank you for your understanding and support. My best regards, Krenakarore (talk) 10:57, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
