Speedy deletion nomination of User:New Mexico Commission for the Blind edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:New Mexico Commission for the Blind, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Whpq (talk) 21:40, 1 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Contested deletion edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --New Mexico Commission for the Blind (talk) 21:56, 1 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

I am trying to put correct information about the NM Commission for the Blind including some of its history. The Orientation Center, run by the NMCFB is also on the National Registry of Historical Places. I would also like to list all of the executive directors throughout the years of its existence. Also, the making of the movie "The Eye," featuring Jessica Alba, was assisted by the NMCFB to represent an appropriate blind persons movements and functions. This wiki is not promotional, but informational and diverse. It isn't the typical "web page" trying to get more consumers.

As far as I'm concerned, this artice is promotional, not notable, and is in the user page space. CSD stands. --TJH2018 talk 21:58, 1 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

April 2016 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Thank you. • Hi there. Please read the message in the blue box. I declined the deletion of your page because I don't think it's egregiously promotional. It could become an article if you make it good enough; note that your main user page is generally considered a bad place to put article drafts, so I moved it to User:New Mexico Commission for the Blind/sandbox. Once you change your username or register a compliant one, you can continue to work on it. I strongly suggest that you submit it as a draft to the Articles for Creation process: see WP:AFC for information. This will provide a review to ensure the page is compliant with Wikipedia rules. Please remember that you need to show the organisation is notable by using reliable sources. Again, please read these links so you understand what to do. Also remember not to be promotional: as you have experienced, the threshold at which language is considered promotional here is low. Try to write very dispassionately. If you need help, ask at the Wikipedia:Teahouse. Thanks, BethNaught (talk) 22:34, 1 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
