Hi, I saw your photos of Theaker in the commons, and corrected the caption. She was born in NZ, but lives locally. Do you have any other photos? or know of any? She is performing on Sat and Sun next at the Zummerfestival in Freidrickshafen(?) so if you know of anyone going to that, photos of that show would be very welcome. She has her own web site BTW, http://www.artyms.com. Would you mind your photos being used on it? with atribution of course.

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Prostitution in Austria

Hi NeoUrfahraner. You are off to such a great start on the article Prostitution in Austria that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. I am glad to hear this. As I understand, it is not required that I nominate the article myself - if you think it may qualify, feel free to nominate it. Why is the p-value not the probability of falsely rejecting the null hypothesis?

The p-value is not the probability of falsely rejecting the null hypothesis. Why? "the p-value is the probability of obtaining a result at least as extreme as a given data point, under the null hypothesis" If a reject the null hypothesis when p is say, lower than 5%, and repeat the test for many true null hypotheses, than I will reject true null hypotheses in approx. 5% of the tests. --NeoUrfahraner (talk) 05:57, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you're mistaking p-values with significance levels. 5% is the significance level, not the p-value. If you get a p-value of 30% and your significance level is 5%, then you don't reject the null hypothesis. 5% would then be the probability of rejecting the null hypothesis, given that the null hypothesis is true, and 30% would be the p-value. Just for the records I added the translation source in the references. I removed some parts which actually did not happen in that way in the movie. I changed "Susanne says that he shouldn't do that, and shouldn't even think about doing that." to "Susanne says that he can't do that, and mustn't even think about doing that." because Susanne said this very heavily. 'Left hand side of the Danube'

Hello NeoUrfahrener, When I read this remark on your User page, I was curious about it. Here in the United States, I am unaware of any habit of speech that would enable a listener to know from what vantage point the left hand side, or right hand side, was intended to be understood. Perhaps their is an upstream, or downstream habit that I have not heard about. You seem confident that the reader will understand. Is this because in Austria, or elsewhere within your experience, there is some habit of speech by which listeners would know which side was considered the left side? Do all cultures follow this convention? I took a quick whirl at trying to find out these answers elsewhere and came up empty, so I figured I'd just ask you. Thank you. Good question. I use to the convention that left and right is defined looking downstream, which is also defined in de:Orografie. I was thinking that this convention is international, but it seems that this assumption is wrong. Since the Danube in Linz is flowing from west to east, left means north and right means south, so maybe I should better change to that notation. --NeoUrfahraner (talk) 19:00, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

No need to change, I think. After reading your response, I was able to locate a few discussions in English that mentioned the left/right side convention in 'orography', -- which itself was a new word to me. It appears quite likely that

Voestalpine

I'm so confused!

I was looking for someone who contributed to the much longer German Wikipedia article, but I didn't know who would know English. I thought I had seen your name in both histories, and I was right.

If you'll look at the article's talk page, you'll see what my problems are, sort of. Only someone who has seen the sources used for the German article would understand, and none of the English ones seem helpful.

I've had a lot more luck reaching you on your German-language talk page. Anyway, I still hope you'll take a look at what I've done, especially under "American operations". I would like those interested to look at my comments on Talk:Voestalpine and Talk:VA Tech Wabag. There are three options:

• • Leave VAI as it is now, which doesn't make sense because it is a separate company that was only 21.25 percent owned by the company the article is about.
  • Add VAI to the VA Tech Wabag article, though I haven't proved it was the biggest unit of VA Tech. I've just found more information about VAI than any of the others.

Again sorry for my late reply. I now checked Voest-Alpine Industrieanlagenbau and agree that it is already better than de:Siemens VAI. Thank you for your work. What is still missing is a seperate article for VA Technologie. The redirect to VA Tech Wabag is a bit misleading. Are you still around? I would like to know the sources for de:Siemens VAI because the translation of that article reads very much like what was Siemens VAI in English. Hello Vchimpanzee. The essential part of the article was written by user User:Siemens Metals (de:User:Siemens Metals) in 2011. I guess this is some more or less official representation of the company. You could try to contact User:Siemens Metals at the user page. Unfortunately this user is not very active (the last edit was in Sept 2011 in the German and in Oct 2011 in the English Wikipedia). In addition, on the English Wikipedia User:Siemens Metals is blocked since June 2012 for reasons that are not clear to me. --NeoUrfahraner (talk) 13:03, 9 December 2012 (UTC)

My feeling on the subject is that there was some official web site that said all this, because the Voestalpine web site's history of the company is divided into similar time periods. I could tell the German article was unsourced, but I was hoping you might have some knowledge of what was going on. I don't know that contacting Siemens Metals would work, since the name is blocked for being that of a company. You can't use your company's name if you work for that company. So on the Englisch Wikipedia, companies have to use a less obvious accounts for less obvious promotion. AFAIK there is no such an easy to bypass policy in the German Wikipedia. Anyway, I saw that you already contacted de:User:Siemens Metals - maybe this will help.
