On Ms Sima Yari

edit

Dear Nematg, my attention was drawn to the above-mentioned biographical entry through a recent addition to the Wikipedia entry concerning Iranian Women. Visiting your page, I noticed, not to my surprise (please read further), that the entry concerning Ms Sima Yari had recently been nominated for deletion. While I am sorry to see that this has been the case, I feel duty-bound to let you know that I do not like the way you have set up the biography of Ms Sima Yari. Above all, rather than setting up the text as a biography (who Ms Yari is, what she has done as a poet and writer, etc.), you have started by confronting the readers with the injustices that Ms Yari sadly has had to suffer on account of her views. To my best judgement, this is not a proper way of writing a biography. Your text has all the characteristics of an appeal for justice and/or mercy. Paradoxically, by doing so you yourself have not done Ms Yari justice; her personality has to shine through her biography as a courageous poet, and not as a person whom the readers should pity (personally, I deeply admire courage and deeply dislike pity, including self-pity). Therefore, I strongly recommend you to reformulate the entry along the lines of conventional biographies, a large number of which can be found here on Wikipedia (for inspiration, you may wish to consult, for instance, the biographical entry of Silvia Plath). With kind regards, --BF 23:17, 2 August 2008 (UTC).Reply

Dear BF. I do appreciate your comments very much. What I wrote was the mere facts about Ms. Yari, whom I respect very much and wanted to share her views, works and her presence in the Iranian Literature with everybody. My intension was to provide as much facts as possible and not to confront and/or asking sympathy from readers. Most likely my command on writing biography in general, has created this misunderstanding. Also to add, the deletion note was placed on an earlier version of this page and page was deleted right away. This is not anything similar to the first one and perhaps the reason you reviewed it. I do follow up on your suggestions and read more on how to write biographies and certainly will modify this page in the future however, I do invite you to edit the page as you find fit and proper. with best Regards, Nematg (talk) 15:24, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Nematg.Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Sima Yari

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sima Yari, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Farhikht (talk) 14:58, 29 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Sima Yari, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, file description page, file talk page, MediaWiki page, MediaWiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
