A barnstar for you! edit

  The Original Barnstar
Thank you for your contributions to articles on Mandaeism. They help expand the encyclopedia and make more knowledge available. Best of wishes to you in editing and making Wikipedia more complete! VideōEtCorrigō (talk) 16:11, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@VideōEtCorrigō: Thank you! Mandaeism is a really under-researched religion, which is surprising given all the attention that the Nag Hammadi Library has received over the past few decades. I'm hoping to write more about Mandaeism whenever I have time. Nebulousquasar (talk) 16:16, 16 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

angel vs deity edit

Hi Nebulousquasar, I noticed you added Ptahil, Abatur, Yushamin and Manda d-Hayyi as deities. By definition, "a deity is the state of being a god; divine characteristics, godhead while angel is a divine and supernatural messenger from a deity, or other divine entity." Since they are created by Hayyi Rabbi and are uthras, they are more akin to angels rather than deities and most importantly, Mandaeism is monotheistic. 16:24, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

@Mcvti: Category:Gnostic deities might need to be renamed. I agree that none of them are strictly deities, so I'll create a new category for uthras (or uthri). Nebulousquasar (talk) 08:16, 2 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrolled granted edit

Hi Nebulousquasar, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! clpo13(talk) 17:45, 8 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Knowledge edit

Hi, I have been trying to add Mandaeism to the Gnosticism section of the Knowledge article along with the other religions listed but am being accused of adding original research or that it is not notable. I am notifying you of the ongoing discussions in the article talk page with the intent to improve the quality of the discussion in order to achieve consensus and also due to your expertise in Mandaeism. cheers Mcvti (talk) 16:47, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Trinitarian formula edit

That information sounds like it could be interesting, but Mandeans are not Christians, and they do not seem to have a Trinity in any very meaningful and specific sense of the word, so unfortunately it's all quite irrelevant to article "Trinitarian formula". Category:Shinto cult objects edit

Why Category:Shinto cult objects and not Category:Shinto religious objects as is used flor Buddhist religious objects‎, Christian religious objects, Islamic religious objects‎, Mandaean religious objects‎? Editor2020 (talk) 23:11, 14 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Editor2020: Category:Shinto religious objects is a much better category. I will change it now. Nebulousquasar (talk) 05:15, 19 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mandaean calendar months edit

Stating that the first month Daula (month) corresponds to July-August, as you have written in the infobox, doesn't fit the descriptioin in the text. Both Aquarius and Hebrew Shevat correspond to January-February. By consequence the infoboxes of all the other Mandaen months seem to err. noychoH (talk) 13:25, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@NoychoH: Daula (month) currently corresponds to July-August, but that wasn't the case several hundred years ago since there are no leap years in the Mandaean calendar. Each month is exactly 365 days. Nebulousquasar (talk) 21:30, 20 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Administrators' noticeboard incident edit

Hello,

I would be grateful if you could weigh in with your expertise on the Mandaeans and the Sabians and their relation to the Sabian scholars of the Abbasid Caliphate [1]. They are recommending that a topic ban on Mandaeans be placed on me.

Aram edit

All of the people listed as revered figures on the top section of the Mandaeism article have information about them from a Mandaean point of view on each of their individual articles, except Aram (whose article is Aram, son of Shem). Maybe you know sources that have information about him from Mandaean beliefs and/or can add information to the article. Lemenisj (talk) 18:52, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to join New pages patrol edit

Hello Nebulousquasar!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!
