Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Narragansett (tribe), was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Illegal immigration to the United States. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you.--SarekOfVulcan 19:11, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Animation, you will be blocked from editing. --SarekOfVulcan 19:13, 19 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Response to your mail

edit
Dear Administrator: SarekofVulcan,
I am inquiring about a response I received from you yesterday concerning entries I made to Wikipedia. In your response you suggested that my entries could be defined as âvandalismâ
The links I entered are part of Arts Engineâs Media That Matters Film Festival. Arts Engine is a nonprofit organization that supports and distributes independent media, among other activities. All the winning films from the festival are under eight minutes and are produced by independent filmmakers, not by Arts Engine. An independent jury, not Arts Engine, selected all the winners.
I attempted to add links for the films to the following articles: Narragansett (tribe), Illegal Immigration to the United States, Martin Luther King Day and Animation. In each case the link connects a user to a relevant short video. In a number of cases, they are stories that have either been ignored by the press or scantily covered. I believe they make a valuable contribution to Wikipedia.
Itâs unclear to me how these links differ from other image links or compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Two examples that are very similar to the Media That Matters films might help illustrate my confusion:
  1. http://www.indypendent.org/?p=717, a link to the newspaper The Independent, for the article âHurricane Katrinaâ
  2. http://www.photosfromkatrina.com/, a link to photographs and videos on the hurricaneâs aftermath
Thank you for your assistance, clarification and information concerning this inquiry.
Sincerely,
Username:Msbarton86

Dear Msbarton86,

First of all, I'm not an administrator. Any editor, on seeing the same link added to multiple unrelated articles, can revert the changes and warn the person adding them.

Wikipedia's policy on external links can be found at WP:LINKS. You should also review WP:linkspam#How_not_to_be_a_spammer, to avoid setting off alarm bells in the future.

I look forward to seeing you become a valued member of the Wikipedia community. Good luck! --SarekOfVulcan 03:03, 23 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
