Welcome

edit

Hi there. Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.

Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives a lot of basic info you'll want to get you oriented on Wikipedia.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using three tildes (" ~~~ ") for your username and four (" ~~~~ ") for your username and a timestamp.

I would also reccommend checking out WikiProject Protected areas since you seem to be interested in that kind of stuff.

If you have any other questions about the project, feel free to drop me a question on my talk page.

Again, welcome to Wikipedia and happy editing, Nebular110 23:57, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Spelling

edit

From what I can see, the correct spelling is here: List of archaeologists. It also comes out redlined in spellcheck. Perhaps you can point me to a reference? Maybe you are using a British spelling for this? --Kukini hablame aqui 17:32, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Of course, if you are using British spelling, we are talking about an American location, thus we should use the accepted spelling in the United States. --Kukini hablame aqui 17:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
I noted on archaeology the other spelling you are using. Thus I can see why you feel it is an "accepted" spelling. Of course, it does change the pronunciation of the word. Perhaps this is a modernization of spelling, based on common mispronunciation? Anyways, cheers, --Kukini hablame aqui 17:41, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Note, even the Archaeological Institute of America spells it with the "a."[1] Keep up the good work in wikipedia, and remember the articles belong to us all. --Kukini hablame aqui 17:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Understood. Don't forget to sign your posts on talk pages as well. --Kukini hablame aqui 21:27, 4 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the great AZ work!

I thought I might point you at a few things, as you seem to be working a lot on Arizona.

NowCommons: File:St-marks-lighthouse.jpg

edit

File:St-marks-lighthouse.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:St-marks-lighthouse.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:St-marks-lighthouse.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 13:29, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Chamizal visitor center.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Chamizal visitor center.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Kelly hi! 07:10, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification of automated file description generation

edit

Your upload of File:Alpo-lemon-house-2.jpg or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks! I just cleaned up a bunch of your images that are slated to be moved to the commons. Have you thought about doing that yourself? You can find the tool here: https://tools.wmflabs.org/commonshelper/ --evrik (talk) 15:48, 18 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
