Links edit

Hello Morgan Creek. Thank you for adding films to the British films tables. There are a couple of things that you need to be aware of. First, please do not list more than three actors. These tables have limited space and we are trying to keep them from looking too askew. Second, and much more importantly, please check your links before saving your edit. Links should go to a page relevant to the link. For instance click on this link that you created as part of your most recent entries Carnival. The page that you go to has nothing to do with a 1931 film. You need to add a qualifier to the link so that you entry will look like this ''[[Carnival (1931 film)|Carnival]]''. The best way to check to see whether you need to adapt your entry is to click on the "Show preview" bar before you click on the "Save page" bar. Then click on the links that you have created. If they do not go to a page relevant to the film then you can alter them before saving. I know that this can be a bit confusing until you are used to it and what I have typed here may also be a bit confusing. If you take a look at WP:LINKS you will get more detailed instructions on how to do this. Your attention in this will help to prevent making more work for others. Thank you for your time and happy editing. MarnetteD | Talk 17:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello again. Thanks for paying attention to my note. Your recent edit was closer but I need to add a couple of details. After hitting the "Show Preview" bar look at your new entries. If they are red then they do not need the (yr film) addition. If they are blue then click on that and if it goes to a page for the film then it is fine and you can save your entry. If it goes to some other page then it needs to have (yr film) added. If it goes to a disambiguation page look at that page. If it has a link for the film then copy that and put it in your entry and then you can hit save. As an example in your latest additions the film Dreyfus needed the extra (yr film) designation. The film Down River did not. Don't worry I know that you will get the hang of this eventually. Keep up the good work. MarnetteD | Talk 21:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, all links are meaant to go to a page that directly relates to the subject - in the case a film. You are also correct about TBD. I have taken the liberty of fixing already. Regards. MarnetteD | Talk 16:26, 28 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

As a member of WikiProject Films, you are invited to take part in the project's first questionnaire. It is intended to gauge your participation and views on the project. At the conclusion of the questionnaire, the project's coordinators will use the gathered feedback to find new ways to improve the project and reach out to potential members. The results of the questionnaire will be published in next month's newsletter. If you know of any editors who have edited film articles in the past, please invite them to take part in the questionnaire. Please stop by and take a few minutes to answer the questions so that we can continue to improve our project. Happy editing!
