User categories

Please read WP:User pages#What may I not have in my user pages? regarding not putting categories on user subpages. I understand you with for this to be an essay, but it is not accepted as an essay, it is your personal essay, and I also kindly ask that you remove headers that make it seem it is on par with mainspace essays. In further, I am putting notice of my intent to bring this before an MFD on the basis that it flies in the very face our established policies and advocates an understanding of our policies and wordings that is not even a minority opinion (as many essays are minority opinions) but in fact is more like a fringe opinion which has no place as an essay.97.88.87.68 (talk) 15:36, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

WP:USERNOCAT says that user subpages should not be added to "content categories". It says nothing against this kind of category. In fact, there are 1,262 user subpages in this category. Every single page in Category:User essays is supposed to be in the user namespace. WhatamIdoing (talk) 20:39, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

{{Essay}} already has a name space detector built, which categorizes user space essays as such. Really the place to discuss the role of the template is on the template talk page, but it is currently clearly intended to be used with userspace essays. I do not intend to remove it, or the category it added. Per WhatamIdoing, the very existence of Category:User essays speaks for itself. Monty₈₄₅ 23:51, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
