Topic Discussion

edit

Hey guys, We are supposed to start brainstorming ideas for our possible topic. I have looked over the list of resources Professor Council has provided us and saw a few interesting people so I thought I would share one with you. One person that I found interesting was Ellen S. Berscheid. I have not done a lot of research on her yet to see if there is more information we could add but it was just an idea. I do know that she is a Professor at the University of Minnesota which was interesting to me as that is where I am from. She studies interpersonal relationships which might be kind of interesting to research. Let me know what you think, if you have any other ideas please share! I think that Ellen S. Berscheid would be an interesting person to do our topic on. She started as an education major and her research funding was kind of controversial because of this. She was conducting research also "behind the scenes" with another woman on equity and attraction, which was done quietly because they were women. I would be fine with doing our work on her. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vegs142 (talkcontribs) 17:13, 14 September 2018 (UTC) 01:34, 17 September 2018 (UTC) Kaitlin MorganReply

I agree that Ellen S. Berscheid seems like an intriguing candidate to elaborate on. I really think that it is important for more women psychologists, as well as women in general, to get proper recognition for there accomplishments. I am interested in learning more about Ellen S. Berscheid's work as a professor in Minnesota (I am from there too). Although, I did find Rochel Gelman to be another possible candidate of interest. Dr. Gelman is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and has won multiple awards for her extensive research. On the contrary, I do believe that the article of Ellen S. Berscheid is the most popular of interest for our group. I am thinking that the article on Rochel Gelman could be our second option to revise.Olivia.schwartz (talk) 19:07, 14 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Olivia, I think that your idea of Rochel Gelman is great and would be another good option for our project. While the majority of the group is in favor of ELlen as our perosn to research, I think that we could make great improvements to either page. Ellen S. Berscheid is not in our textbook, however I found many great sources on the web. If everyone is ok with this I can email Professor Council and let him know Ellen is our first choice with Dr. Gelman as our second choice! Molson27 (talk) 14:15, 16 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Olivia and Morgan, I think that Rochel Gelman would be a perfect second option for our group. I think that Ellen would still be a great first option, but I would be super interested in researching Dr. Gelman as well. Both people have room for improvement, and would be a great way for us to learn as well. 01:34, 17 September 2018 (UTC) Kaitlin Morgan

I think that it is safe to say that Ellen S. Berscheid is our article of choice and that we should elaborate on her work. I am eager to begin working on her article, as I am sure that we will find interesting things! I am also glad that we all can agree that Rochel Gelman is an excellent second option. Morgan, that would be awesome if you could email our article choices! Olivia.schwartz (talk) 03:38, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok! I went ahead and just emailed our professor our two choices! Molson27 (talk) 04:04, 17 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
