I am trying to fill in the class and task force tags in the Unassessed military history articles category. If you think the articles should have a differant assessment than the one I gave, then feel free to change it. By leaving the rest of the checklist unfilled, I am leaving it up to the members of the individual task forces to decide if the particular article meets the criteria in each item. 65.64.177.101 (talk) 22:17, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
You are obviously missing the point of assessing then and Wikipedia:Competence is required is coming into play.--Molestash (talk) 22:19, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Your talkpage comments

Hello, I happened to notice your talkpage comments at [1]. Please understand that while it can be frustrating when an article you've worked on is delisted, or points are brought up regarding its quality, this is never a reason to accuse others of vandalism. Please take a moment to read WP:NOTVAND, as improper accusations of vandalism are considered disruptive and are likely to achieve the opposite of your intended objective. Kindzmarauli (talk) 16:39, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Understood and thank you for the clarification. Real quick question, what is the way to approach a run around policy such as the Master did delisting an article without notifying interested editors? --Molestash (talk) 22:06, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
If you feel someone has done something incorrect, you should Assume Good Faith. There was a time, actually not long ago, when GAs could simply be delisted if an editor determined it no longer met the GA guidelines. It's generally a good idea to simply talk things out, as in many, if not most, cases, people do have a legitimate point, even if they make a mistake or aren't up to speed on current process. In taking a quick look at the article, I can see why the editor would have questioned its promotion to GA as I concur there are some issues that would have prevented me from promoting it, though I see you fixed the date issue. It's probably best to discuss it on the talk page with Master, though. Kindzmarauli (talk) 22:46, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Two articles about the same ship

Hi Molestash, I have found two articles about the same ship, "Anne (ship)" and "Anne (convict ship)", and have blindly contributed to both. I would like to put the two into one, and then have the other, or perhaps both, be redirects to the combined article. Any comments, suggestions, etc.? Thanks, Acad Ronin (talk) 02:07, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

I would try and keep one article's history and copy, paste merge the other into it. I am guessing that "Anne (convict ship)" is the most recognizable name for the article and would redirect "Anne (ship)" into that. Besides that good eye, I'm always impressed by people who find duplicate articles. --Molestash (talk) 13:45, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll do that. Once I have done it, how do I get rid of the now redundant article? Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 17:54, 21 March 2015 (UTC)
Just create a redirect on that page and people will automatically go to the other article. This can help. The talkpage will just need to be reassessed as a redirect as well. I can help if you want after the copy paste merge. --Molestash (talk) 18:01, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Molesatash, First, I copied all the info in the article "Anne (ship)" to "Anne (convict ship)", and added some new info I found to "Anne (convict ship)". Then I moved "Anne (convict ship)" to "Anne (1799 ship)", 1799 being the year of her capture, as there were two to three Annes that were convict ships, and Anne herself having done a little more than simply one transport of convicts to Australia. I then converted the "Anne (ship)" article to a REDIRECT page. Lastly, I went and replaced all, or almost all, of the original citations to either of the first two articles to direct citations to the "Anne (1799 ship)" article. At this point, if there is anything you can do tidy up that would be kind. Thanks. Acad Ronin (talk) 02:58, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Looks good to me, nice work.--Molestash (talk) 14:40, 22 March 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks for looking it over. I just screwed up another move and so appreciate another eye. Regards, Acad Ronin (talk) 16:45, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

deOrphaning script

Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.

What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the mailing list or alternatively to opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Opted-out of message delivery to your user talk page.

Re:Help

Thanks for volunteering. The material I'd like copyedited is here; I know that this is probably an exercise in futility, but I figure what the heck - nothing ventured, nothing gained. Besides, the points raised are all valid, so perhaps a well written argument will result in some results for a change, right? :) TomStar81 (Talk) 02:49, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

My copedit can be found here. I left the original on your page as you might want more than one person to go through it. I will read through and edit my sandbox copy tonight (GMT -5 so 23:00?). For what it's worth, you have my support. I admire the gusto to break the status quo. --Molestash (talk) 14:44, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Gusto got nothing to do with it - its evolution. We have reached a point where it is no longer possible for the community and the rfa process to co-exist, so I'm forcing the RFA issue by prepping for a daring raid against its heart. If we can convince the community to rally behind the effort and shut down RFA then the entire project will be forced to come up with a new method for administration, one that -hopefully- will be better suited for the needs of the English Wiki as they are now. The problem though is that when these bold new things are tried they depend absolutely on a third party to interpret the action(s), and third party thus becomes the only force capable of affecting the situation for better or worse. To that end, then, this argument needs to have a a sniper mentality going in, if the shot is off even a little then the status quo people will blow it off topic and the cause will be lost. Its a big gamble, but in the end one I think needs to be taken. And judging for your support, one you think needs to be taken too :) Incidentally, if you want to co-nom, be my guest. The more the merry, as they say... TomStar81 (Talk) 14:58, 19 July 2015 (UTC)
Tom, I do not feel any more edits by me will add anything to your manifesto. Again, I would suggest getting another copy editor to read through it if one can be found. When it is published I will definitely be part of the conversation. --Molestash (talk) 01:52, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

29th Indian Brigade

Molestash, you recently rated 29th Indian Brigade for WP:MILHIST. You have rated it C Class as "Referencing and citation: criterion not met". Can you tell me why? I haven't got a problem with this, just looking for a pointer so I can improve. Hamish59 (talk) 02:03, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

At the end of the first paragraph in the Independent section you need a citation to make it B-Class. Alternatively you could combine the two paragraphs and it would be B-Class assuming all the information came from the same source. --Molestash (talk) 02:06, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Alexey Polosin

Molestash, you assessed Alexey Polosin as stub class. What could I do to improve the article, and the other Hero of the Soviet Union articles I created? Kges1901 (talk) 19:07, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

I would try to deorphan and find English based sources. If no english sources are available I wouldn't be surprised, I have the same problem with Japanese weapons. Personally I think that article is on the start/stub cusp and will update to start accordingly. --Molestash (talk) 19:15, 20 September 2015 (UTC)

O'Brien is Tryin to Learn to Talk Hawaiian

Thanks for removing the Milhist tag from this talk page. We are cataloging and linking to Wikipedia songs in the World War I Hunter Collection, which contains a selection of music scores (about 99% of which is military related). Some editors mistakenly think all the songs we've been adding are military though. TeriEmbrey (talk) 14:58, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:26, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Nambu pistol

Hi there. Since you're the only person I know here who seems to have interest in Japanese firearms, I was wondering if you think the Nambu pistol article shouldn't be split up into separate articles on the variants? Or at least into three articles: one on the Papa, one on the Baby, and the other on the Type 14? Though they all share design similarities, the Type 14 was issued in far greater numbers than either the Papa or Baby, and the Baby even uses a different cartridge. The Master ---)Vote Saxon(--- 01:03, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

I think it should be split into two articles. The Type 14 where the majority of searches should lead and the Type A and B should be on the same page as they are fairly identical internally. I support any split and am willing to get all articles to GA if someone were to do the splitting. I do not like a 3 way split because I don't think the Type B could stand alone on notability. --Molestash (talk) 01:08, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
Ok, I can live with that. The Type 14 definitely deserves its own article. Maybe the Nambu pistol article can have a brief paragraph on it with a wikilink to the longer standalone article. I'll have a look at it and think about how best to break it up. The Master ---)Vote Saxon(--- 01:11, 13 March 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject Brazil task force tag removal

Hi! Recently, you removed a valid task force tag (history=yes) from a category talk page. I am curious whether you didn’t recognize that the code was valid and decided to "clean it up" or do you just disagree that Category:World War II military equipment of Brazil is within the scope of the History of Brazil task force? One instance is no huge deal, obviously. I mostly wanted to make sure that you were aware that the history=yes code is valid and was put there intentionally, since you seem to be quite an active editor. Thanks! giso6150 (talk) 21:34, 23 April 2016 (UTC)

Oops my bad. Thanks for catching that. --Molestash (talk) 12:22, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
