Hi Moisejp, hope all is well with you. I have a DVD of the KQED press conference: Dylan Speaks: The Legendary 1965 Press Conference in San Francisco, Eagle Media Release, A Division of Eagle Rock Entertainment, 2006. In vision, you can clearly see Dylan is laughing when he says "I want to needle them." So there is documentary proof! I'm not sure what the best way to cite this is? You're in luck, I do happen to have a copy of the book. Here is the publishing info:

Mr Tambourine Man

Hi Moisejp, thanks for your friendly note. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to contribute ideas to MTM, but I can see a lot of improvements have been made. I had a quick go at improving the lead, bcs I thought it was a bit awkward. I think having (see 1965 in music) in opening sentence of lead is not a great idea stylistically. I don't think any FA does that. I did post a query on the Talk page about listing Footnotes and References: [1] I also suggested some critical commentary I thought was interesting, maybe it could be used. best wishes Mick gold (talk) 18:02, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Moisejp, a footnote to TBT. On Jann Wenner's website you can hear extracts from the 1969 interview with Dylan that Wenner recorded. Hi Moisejp, Thanks for your comments. Sorry if you're feeling tired. I'm OK but the FAC is quite tiring, not just the time to research & write the stuff, but it is tiring emotionally & mentally. I think our effort is not going too badly. I don't have ideas to add about songs such as Reuben Remus & Yazoo. I think they are minor songs & their entries accurately reflect that. Obviously I've mined Gill, Hoskyns, Griffin, et al but I would not add anything just because Indopug & Kitchen roll suggest it. (Kitchen roll is 16 years old!) I'll look again at our sources but I feel it has to be worth adding. Your piece of Helm was a useful addition. I have some sympathy with WesleyDodds when he said the article needed compacting. I would like to shorten it a bit.

I'll mention the Iachetta para once more. I think the first extract from Iachetta does convey Dylan nursing some kind of grievance which is important. But the 2nd extract feels more like Dylan blah to me. If you read the New compositions section, it works well without that para imho, and there are many Dylan quotes in this article. Thanks, I've trimmed Iachetta, and the Richard Williams quote. I was not aware of the Acapulco story, it sounds interesting, if you can write it with a cite. Acapulco is not on GWW (but then only 7 BT songs were on GWW [[3]]), nor was it on the 14 song demo. In the movie I'm Not There, Jim James & Calexico perform the song in a sequence which is a kind of reification of the BT world. I can't write this up unless I find a source, though I did publish a long essay on I'm Not There in Isis [[4]] which spelt all this out, maybe I'll cite that. Courage mes enfants! Hi Moisejp, I discovered Robertson's explanation of the origin and meaning of Yazoo Street in Bowman's notes for Big Pink. I think this is a useful addition - explaining what Robertson was trying to achieve with his style of song-writing. So Yazoo Street is now one of the longer entries. Do you think Helm saying that Manuel became his favourite drummer is still crucial? Maybe you added it in an attempt to beef up the length of Yazoo Street? Hi Moisejp, I've trimmed Smith. He is only mentioned in "Down In The Flood" as the source of a couple of lines from an old blues. I think Marcus's book on The Basement Tapes was incredibly influential. I see references to this thing called "the old weird America" in many areas of cultural criticism. (I was talking to a friend who works in cultural studies yesterday, who said he got 2 or 3 applications a year from students who want to do a PhD on Harry Smith. This is in London!) So I think it's worth spelling out how TBT led Marcus to bring Smith back into 21st century cultural studies in a big way. Dylan's '66 World Tour Dates

Hello, Moisejp. You seem to be pretty well-off in terms of Bob Dylan, so I thought I might ask you a couple of questions about his '66 World Tour. Under the section "Tour Dates" on the aforementioned page, there are a whole bunch of unreferenced dates, seemingly coming from the tour. I don't have very many resources to verify these; I mainly use Bjorner's Still on the Road when it comes to this information. But if you could send me a book title, website URL, et cetera, that might help me verify these dates, it would be much appreciated, as I am currently trying to clean this page up a bit. Thanks! Quotation marks and punctuation

I'm no fan of our "logical quotation" style, but it is what it is, and it would be very inconsistent to place commas outside the quote marks for actual quotations but inside for titles. And the fact is, the Manual of Style does specifically make clear that titles are covered by the rule at the beginning of the quotation marks subsection: "The term quotation in the material below also includes other uses of quotation marks such as those for titles of songs, chapters, episodes, unattributable aphorisms, literal strings, 'scare-quoted' passages, and constructed examples."

Basement Tapes query

Hi Moisejp, nice to hear from you. I think your query re "Yazoo Street" is where did I get "but since it was set in the South, it seemed natural for Helm to take over" from? I have the 2000 Capitol Records "Remasters" re-release of Music From Big Pink. There are no page numbers on booklet, but on penultimate page of booklet (page before the one where Bowman signs his name and there is a repro of Rolling Stone cover, 24 Aug 1968, with picture of The Band), Bowman writes: "There is also an earlier version of Yazoo Street Scandal where Robbie is singing the lead vocal but given that the song was set in the south, it seemed only natural for Levon to take over the vocal chores when he was back in the fold." This comes immediately after para where Bowman quotes Robertson saying "I thought, 'Wow, they don't have streets like that in Canada. There's no streets up there called Yazoo!' It was like, 'Jesus, let me make up a little story here about stuff going on in this kind of almost red light district.' Everything was lit in red in that song for me." Therefore I have moved the Bowman ref to after the point about Helm taking over lead vocal, since Bowman is source of both this point and the Robertson quote. Hope this answers your query. Definition of Recuse: (1) to disqualify (oneself) as judge in a particular case (2) to remove oneself from participation to avoid a conflict of interest. You should try not to panic. Hi Moisejp, I relied to your query about Bjorner here. I thought it was time I congratulated you, it was back in December 2007 that you suggested cleaning up The Basement Tapes article, and finally nearly 3 years later, we've taken it to FA. I found process quite exhausting, not just intellectually looking up cites and getting formats right, but also emotionally. I'm sure you did too. I'm not planning on starting another major FA drive right now, I might recover and do smaller things for a while. Anyway, well done & keep on keepin' on. H61R, LARS

Moisejp, well done on starting work on H61R. I've joined in a bit. I re-wrote some of the section on recording LARS because our Featured Aricle on LARS, backed by Marcus's book, makes clear that Kooper only attended on 2nd session on 16th. I've also changed Marcus's LARS book to 2005 when it was published (as proof see this Guardian review [9]) but I have introduced some gremlin, so the footnote for 'Marcus 2005' now points to the npr website. Thanks for sorting out Marcus ref mixed up confusion. I certainly remember Marcus's LARS book being published to coincide with 40th anniversary of the hit single's release. Highway 61 comments

Hi, Moisejp. Thanks for moving the reference. I added a comment to the talk page and would like your feedback. As I mentioned, my general assessment is that the article seems in good shape. I do have concerns regarding the writing in places (only a few), primarily in respect to linking general background to its influence on Dylan and the album's story. Besides favoring that approach, I have a prejudice about in-text attributions, that is, direct quotes from sources and "according to's" regarding basic facts; for example, quoting Shelton about culture traveling HW61 and the Mississippi. It's completely different with analyses that offer opinions or insights. To use an exaggerated example to make the point, it would be silly including a quotation that does little more than bring out the fact that the river runs north to south. Instead, such information should be paraphrased and the attribution handled with a citation. BTW, it's great to be back. I missed the collaborations and challenges, though as I'm finding out again, not the addiction, however delicious. Allreet (talk) 23:56, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Good to hear from you. And it is great to be back. Feel free to re-format the Witmark references - and of course, tackle anything else there. I noticed the Harvard style in H61R and like it for both look and ease. The time off was well needed to break the compulsion and deal with life on the home front (all is good). It also provided time to do some free-ranging research, and now return with fresher eyes. I plan to pitch in with H61R and wherever else needed. Thanks a lot for your comments. They'll surely help a lot. As of the issue of chart info from austriancharts.com I resolved the problem. The link is working now. The problem of over-usage of quotes was also pointed out by Allreet. I'll work out that and others soon. You and other editors are also welcome to give a hand on the article. And I don't really know why it is called AustrianCharts.
