Mexican TV stations by channel number

Just took a look at what you've got. Things are going great! No surprise that 2, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 13 are the last ones to get done; Mexico really crammed as many stations as it could on VHF for the longest time, and there was no analog UHF television service in 10 or so of Mexico's 32 states.

Some things I want to suggest:

  • Some states have long names: Veracruz, Coahuila, Michoacán, Querétaro (because they ended up getting named after someone). I'd suggest using the shorter names.
  • Note on the lists: Certain stations are not using their analog (listed "VC") number in digital. These are mostly noncoms using their physical channel number: XHGVC and XHGVS, all analog-digital stations with callsigns beginning in "XHOP", XHGJG and XHTRES (a very important commercial exception!). In these cases their analog number will be different from digital (XHGVC is 21 analog, 22 digital; XHGJG is 7 analog, 25 digital, for instance). I sacrificed total accuracy for the lists because I made them with an eye to the future and impending digitalization, not to the present. I will need to inform you of further cases.
  • Remove the stations in Mexicali, BC, from analog lists on March 26 (shutdown). They should remain on virtual and digital lists. These are XHBC, XHAQ, XHBM, XHEXT, XHMEE and XHMEX. I'll let you know of further shutdowns.
  • You may want to watch Template:Mexico-inf to be aware when new information is released by the IFT, particularly of new assignments of various digital television stations. I am also expecting to see the Cadena Tres/Radio Centro concessions soon, 246 new digital stations of them.

I also listified channel 42 (which has one station) for you by adding the cat to the dabpage. Raymie (tc) 04:15, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks! I just earlier today saw your last note about this on your talk page, too. I prepped this all off of the February IFT file originally, and then used some Excel tricks to put together what I needed to build the lists. Given how far through I am, I think the safest thing for me to do is finish with the info I have (I'm validating against the state lists as I go, to be safe), and then make another pass through to shorten the state names and make any of the other fixes you find. I need to add some references during that second pass, too, for at least the "Channel x TV stations in Mexico" pages. But keep throwing it at me, and I'll get it all fixed up, probably by the end of the month.
And, yeah - I went from smallest categories to largest. I needed a structure, and that seemed as good a one as any. Even after the categories are cleaned out, it's looking like I'll still have a bunch to add into the lists, as all the articles each only had the one category on them. I just did all the Mexicali stuff. I also moved the station pages to -TDT but left -TV redirects in case they are necessary. The switch happens at midnight tonight. Raymie (tc) 17:14, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Also, I added a template you may like: Template:Mexican TV by channel number. Note that some of the red links for various channels (those below 52) are intentional as I expect these to be filled by new SPR stations and the Radio Centro/Cadena Tres concession package. For instance, there is no 24 virtual page but 15 of the 246 new stations in the total package will be on 24. There are also (in smaller numbers) stations on 16, 18, 41, 42, 43 and 51 among other channels. Raymie (tc) 16:20, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
That's fantastic - I'll add that to the category and to the various list articles (the non-disambiguation pages, anyway). Mlaffs (talk) 21:54, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

Complicated Page Move

Got a bit of a complicated page move for ya. WEQP has switched it's callsign to WWEQ. While WWEM has switched it's callsign to WEQP. Thanks in advance. :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 22:52, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

No problem - I've got your back. I've been doing a huge TV listify project because of some CfDs for the last month or so. As a result, I have a massive backlog of radio call sign changes to work through, but I'll add this to the list. Cool? Mlaffs (talk) 22:46, 31 March 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, that will work just fine. :) Lemme know when you do the page moves, so I can update them right quick. :) Take Care...NeutralhomerTalk • 01:16, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
There you go. I even updated a couple of your sub-pages, too, to keep them in sync with the renamings. :>) Mlaffs (talk) 04:33, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks and double thanks! :) Much appreciated! :) - NeutralhomerTalk • 05:09, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
