I thought your proposed text at talk:Kaaba was nicely worded. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:12, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! Just out of curiosity, are you a real person? I don't mean to offend, I'm new here and just trying to understand how this all works. Mkneubert (talk) 21:42, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I'm a real person but this is not my real name, for reasons I won't bore you with.
Having to request that a change be made is unusual but for certain high-profile topics is is unavoidable due to vandalism or soap-boxing. Run of the mill articles you can just edit directly provided you maintain a detached encyclopedic style, a neutral point of view, and critically can cite a reliable source for anything remotely arguable because we cannot use Wikipedia to publish original research or opinions. Your nicely worded proposal avoided setting off any alarms and improved on a weak original. In general, don't worry about making honest mistakes, as someone is likely to spot it and correct and you will learn from their corrections.
(For the formal policy statements of these points, see WP:STYLE, WP:NPOV, WP:RS and WP:NOR. The all-caps are just because they are short-cuts).
Enjoy! --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 22:27, 1 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
