Dracut

edit

Hello,

Thanks for your work on the Dracut article, it's come a long way in the last few days. I was wondering what your opinion was on linking it to Greater Lowell. As the only other non-anonymous editor to Dracut, I figured I'd ask you.

Since I wrote the Greater Lowell article and nobody else has touched it at all, I am worried about it being in violation of NPOV. I feel that the Lowell area is cohesive enough and the term is used often enough for it to be encyclopedic, and that if any of Lowell's neighboring towns fit the description given in the article, Dracut would be it, being furthest from Boston and probably the most "overflowed" from Lowell. An anonymous user keeps removing it without much explanation, but if I'm not with the consensus on this, I won't add it back again.

Thanks, CSZero 19:00, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I'll work it back in, thanks for your input. I'd love to help on the local articles, but as a Tyngsboro native, I don't know much about the towns to the East... CSZero 21:10, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:MerrimackNewburyport.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:MerrimackNewburyport.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

MisterM87, I have no problem with the use of my pictures on this site. I don't know how to update the copyrights properly, however. Can you set them to copyright: S. Ashe, dracutforum.com Thanks Shawn

Image tagging for Image:Merrimack Valley Map.PNG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Merrimack Valley Map.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

edit

Thank you for uploading Image:DracutMeetingHouse.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

Boston NECTA

edit

But the principal cities in the NECTA division titles already imply that those cities/towns are included in that particular division. There is no point adding additional cities. --Polaron | Talk 01:38, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Again, why those particular cities? Either list them all or none. You might want to just link to the complete list of components on the Census website? --Polaron | Talk 01:44, 19 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is how you do it! lol

I'm not sure who did it, and I don't know how to change it, but the pictures here on the dracut page came from my site. I would appreciate a copyright on them, or at least a reference back to dracutforum.com.

How is that done?

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Wiscasset, ME Seal.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Wiscasset, ME Seal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:31, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Logo-mbta.gif

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Logo-mbta.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free image File:Wiscasset, ME Seal.jpg

edit

However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

File source problem with File:Winter0015.JPG

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Winter0015.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:45, 28 January 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 18:45, 28 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Dracut 113 Farms.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dracut 113 Farms.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
