- Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
- The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
- An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
- After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.
- After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
- Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.
Thank you + question
editThank you for your work on Abebe Bikila. I am going to nominate it for GA. What is your opinion on my chances? —አቤል ዳዊት?(Janweh64) (talk) 19:49, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
- It has a decent chance. I have a jaundiced view of the GA process, though, since it depends on only one reviewer. I've seen articles fail which IMO should have passed (because the reviewer treated GAN like FAC), and have seen articles with serious problems pass. That being said, though, give it a go :-). Good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 20:09, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
Adam Banner page
editThanks so much for restoring. Im in the process of cleaning up all the citations. Once I'm done, would you be able to review the page? Billsimmons7 (talk) 19:53, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- I'll take a look at it, but I'm also busy with other things. The subject may or may not meet WP:BASIC; in my quick look I saw directory listings and passing mentions, but not the significant coverage stipulated in WP:GNG. Another editor may propose or nominate the page for deletion if it doesn't meet the general notability guideline; I'd study that before cleaning up the citations. All the best, Miniapolis 20:10, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
I've updated all the the citations so that can be removed. Re notability, he has been cited and discussed in two different Law Review Journals. He has been cited and discussed in the Washington Post and Forbes. He has been cited and discussed in a 2016 published book on domestic abuse. He has been interviewed countless times by the news to comment on legal issues. Billsimmons7 (talk) 20:57, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- Any maintenance tag (such as {{Cleanup bare URLs}}) can be removed by any editor when the relevant issue is resolved. If the references verify what you say, he seems to meet the notability guideline (although there's no such thing as "countless" :-)). Miniapolis 21:15, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
Ok cool. Thanks for all your help. I also love horses!Billsimmons7 (talk) 21:21, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
It's now for a vote for speedy deletion and only the guy who wants to delete it has written about it. Fear no one else is going to speak up. Then what?? :/ Billsimmons7 (talk) 22:34, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
- Don't panic. Reddogsix has listed it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Adam Banner; the main AfD page explains how the process works. Community discussions generally run for seven days, and are relisted if there's insufficient input. However, the nominator's arguments seem to have merit. Has Banner or someone connected with him paid you to write this article? If so (and the article is kept), you have a conflict of interest which must be declared in accordance with WP's terms of use. WP is an encyclopedia with guidelines for inclusion, the broadest of which is the general notability guideline. Miniapolis 23:28, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
No! Not at all. Take my editorship seriously and wouldn't dream of receiving any payment! Billsimmons7 (talk) 00:16, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- Please don't misunderstand me :-). Paid editing isn't automatically bad; we want experts in their field (who may earn their living from that expertise) to contribute to WP, but they must declare editing in which they have a potential conflict of interest and understand that here their first obligation is to the encyclopedia, not their employer. Since paid editing may (and, unfortunately, often does) violate WP:NPOV, it must be disclosed. All the best, Miniapolis 14:01, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
Finished, or not?
editAs I was taking a bit too long to complete a copy-edit of Pakistan, Jasphetamine offered to help. See User talk:Corinne#Mind if I help out on Pakistan? and Talk:Pakistan/Archive 18#There is a lot of blue going on in parts of this article.. Earlier today, I completed the sections I said I would work on, searched for and removed some duplicate links throughout the article, and then turned it over to Jasphetamine. If, for some reason, s/he does not begin working in a day or two, I will finish the sections I did not do. However, in the meantime, can I consider myself done with this copy-edit so that I can accept another assignment? By the way, one reason it took me so long was that I really was busy in real life, but another is that fixing the prose in the article required a lot of time and attention. – Corinne (talk) 03:10, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
- Under the circumstances, certainly. Thanks and all the best, Miniapolis 13:40, 24 April 2017 (UTC)
List of One Piece Chapters
editHello: To be consistent, I have copied your version of the lead and used it in the second and third articles in the series. If you make any subsequent change, please let me know and I will change the other parts accordingly. Thanks.Twofingered Typist (talk) 18:03, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
- Will do, TT, and thanks for taking the other two articles. Episode articles are often excruciating, but this one isn't bad and I hope yours are too. Have fun in the drive and all the best, Miniapolis 18:18, 30 April 2017 (UTC)
