Atlas Strategic

edit

A tag has been placed on Atlas Strategic, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable (see the guidelines for notability here). If you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please write {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, articles #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. NawlinWiki 19:28, 10 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

I deleted this article. The band had no assertion of significance. This is not a place to promote bands. Selling 500 records is a nice accomplishment, but far, far away from encyclopedic significance. Friday (talk) 01:53, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
PS. The fact that people deleted this doesn't automatically mean an article could never exist on this topic. If there is more to this than meets the eye and this is covered in proper sources, by all means submit a sourced article. For what it's worth, google turns up exactly one relevant result- a report of this band opening for Ugly Casanova. Opening for such a well known band is an admirable accomplishment, but if that's the only thing we can source, that's nowhere near enough for a proper article. Friday (talk) 03:01, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, my bad. Google turns up more results than just that one, but I can't easily tell how many of them are relevant. Proper sources are absolutely essential for band articles, so by all means make a sourced article if you can. See also WP:MUSIC for guidelines. Friday (talk) 03:09, 11 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • I agree with Friday. If you can create an article with reliable sources showing the notability of this band per WP:BAND, then by all means repost the article. But if you can't, don't. Don't repost the article hoping that someone will improve it later. Thanks, NawlinWiki 02:43, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
    • No, Wikipedia doesn't work that way. Wait until you have an article that satisfies the guidelines before you post it. NawlinWiki 02:47, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

please tell me if this new page does not fit the chriteria for a wikipedia.org page.

      • why was the page deleted?
        • CSD G11 promotional. Possibly copyright violation as well, didn't decide - didn't matter. - crz crztalk 01:56, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
          • Copyright notwithstanding, it was also deleted under CSD G11 (promotional) as indicated immediately above. - crz crztalk 11:57, 2 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

How? That's a bizarre question. If you disagree, take it to deletion review, WP:DRV. Have a good day. - crz crztalk 01:38, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Atlas Strategic.JPG listed for deletion

edit
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Atlas Strategic.JPG has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 08:41, 1 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Atlas Strategic.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Atlas Strategic.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:12, 29 March 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 20:12, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Atlas Strategic pic

edit

Hi. I deleted the pic because it did not have a valid license. You stated that you "have permission to use that photo of the band in LA on wikipedia". Sadly, "for wikipedia" images are not free images and they cannot be uploaded to wikipedia. You need to get the owner of the pic to release the pic under a free license so that anyone else can also use this picture for a commercial or non-commercial use. Free licenses are available here. Read this for help on how to ask for permission of copyrighted material. Also, if you are granted permission post the details of the permission granted at Wikipedia:Successful requests for permission. You should also send a copy of your request and the response to permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org where it will be permanently archived. I also see that you have uploaded Image:Atlasband.jpg which is a copy of the earlier image. I am deleting that for now. Please do not upload that image till you have done what I have told you to do. - Aksi_great (talk) 05:26, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD Nomination: Atlas Strategic

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem to me that Atlas Strategic meets these criteria, I have started a discussion about whether this article should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Atlas Strategic. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, an administrator will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. - Aksi_great (talk) 05:38, 10 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Dave wenger

edit

A tag has been placed on Dave wenger, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. greenrd 11:45, 20 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:4songep.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Deborah Bial, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hamilton College.
