Blockchain and cryptocurrency general sanctions notification

Please read this notice carefully.

You are receiving this notice because you recently edited one or more pages relating to blockchain or cryptocurrencies topics. You have not done anything wrong. We just want to alert you that "general" sanctions are authorized for certain types of edits to those pages.

A community decision has authorized the use of general sanctions for pages related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies. The details of these sanctions are described here. All pages that are broadly related to these topics are subject to a one revert per twenty-four hours restriction, as described here.

General sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimise disruption in controversial topic areas. Binance

Hi, you left a message on my talk page and I will answer here. Yfou can only add content with mainstream sources, such as NYT, bloomberg, wsj, fortune, etc. You cant use cyrpto sites, blogs, twitter, youtube, etc. Very strict in this cryptocurrency genre. Are you a paid editor (with a WP:COI) hired to edit the Binance article? Jtbobwaysf (talk) 16:18, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

→ Hi Jtbobwaysf, thanks for your guidance. Just wondering if by your no-crypto-sites you mean a blanket ban even on more neutral sites like CoinDesk, and I hope this will be reconsidered. I will be happy to comply nevertheless. As for the other question, while I'm not hired to edit per see, I may be considered under the WP:COI, but I'm willing to work with you within the limits of Wikipedia's rules and even collaborate with editors that are more or less neutral about the topic. I'm thinking of doing more incremental edits that are well-sourced to create a more detailed account of Binance's history and information. I welcome any and all feedback in terms of what I have to keep in mind to be able to help in keeping this page and other related pages updated. Hi, Yes coindesk is off limits as well. It is indeed a blanket ban on all crypto sites. @David Gerard: maybe a COI editor here. Please make your suggestions on the talk page of the binance talk page so we can look at them. Always great if we can add more content. You can also ping me there. Thanks! It's not technically a "ban". However, CoinDesk in particular is considered generally unreliable - summary at Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources#CoinDesk - and other crypto sites are basically worse. And crypto/blockchain stuff is under very harsh editing restrictions - per the notice above - so editors are very harsh on sourcing. Crypto sites are basically just not accepted as Reliable Sources, and you really should be sticking strictly to stuff in mainstream sources, of which there's quite a few going into depth on crypto these days - David Gerard (talk) 23:41, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
