Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Meapianostudio", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies multiple users. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Wikipedia accounts are solely intended for one person to use. Additionally, you should be aware that Wikipedia does condone or allow advertising or promotion in any form. Please follow the links to change your username. A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Meapianostudio, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service, and which is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages; user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you can indicate why the page is not blatant advertising, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: Click here to contest this speedy deletion which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy deletion candidate). Doing so will take you to your user talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also edit this page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would help make it encyclopedic. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. John from Idegon (talk) 04:39, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Tiptoety talk 04:40, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|This my username that I always choose (it's an automatic setting). I'm just one person. Am I supposed to use a real name, if so, that's confusing when I'm asked to put in a username.}} Meapianostudio (talk) 04:48, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|What exactly did I do wrong? I'm trying to set up my userpage but I can't finish. I'm not even 10% of the way done.}} Meapianostudio (talk) 04:58, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

{{unblock|Reasons to Reconsider Clearly Stated This Time

1. I created my username, a username that I use at many different places. It's a default username. My form-fill automatically inputs stuff like email, username, address, credit card, ect. I did not realize I needed to use a "real" username. To me, a username is a made-up name.

2A. My username is not for multiple people in any way shape or form. It's just a username. It's just me.

2B. Would it be better to change my username to meapiano? Like I said above, it's my default, go-to username. Five years ago it was UrbanSpice. Now it's something more respectable.

3. After creating my username, I saw the link for the user page. It said that it needed to be created and so I created one. I read the guidelines that said a brief bio\personal information was allowed (like a forum profile page). It also said I could link to a personal website.

4. I started writing my bio but couldn't think of anything to say. So I wrote something quickly, saved it, and decided to go look on other pages to get ideas on what to write.

5. When I came back, I was blocked and my page deleted. This was not my intended final page, it's was "holding" info while I looked up better things to put in.

6. I'm not trying to promote anything. I was not sure what to write but I didn't want to leave a blank page. (I was tempted just write "Under Construction" but figured it would be better to have some kind of text there.) I just put something up quickly so something would be there while I went to go look at other profiles. No promotion. There would be no point as outward links from all major sites are nofollow. So therefore a waste of time.

7. My original plan was a brief biography of myself, from pre-college to now, that included personal and work info, along with a link to a blog or maybe a social profile or something. (The guidelines did say I could have at least one link to a personal site). But I wasn't sure if that would be correct, which is why I decided to do some further research. But I was blocked before I could finish\fix anything.

8. As my username indicates, my interest lay in piano and music, including music composition and theory. Those would be my main areas of focus.}} Meapianostudio (talk) 05:43, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Let me explain:

  • Usernames don't have to be personal names - however they still need to represent you the human being, not the company you own/work for/live across the street from.
  • User pages are for interaction with other Wikipedia editors. While it's fine to tell a bit about yourself and about your job, we frown upon users who use the personal space they're given as a kind of LinkedIn without contributing to the encyclopedia proper. If you try to see this through the blocking admin's eyes, you will realise that this looked exactly like link spam: new account with a company name makes an edit that consists mostly of adding a link to that company's website.

That being said, I'm prepared to unblock if you suggest a different username for yourself. Max Semenik (talk) 06:05, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I was trying to do this as you typed your response. These are my initials for my first, middle, and last name. Plus my main interest which is piano.

Accept reason:

You seem to have been come down like a ton of bricks. Given you haven't edited any articles and your user page is pretty mild, this silly orange template comes across as wikibullying if you ask me. I'm happy to unblock. Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username/simple as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 15:14, 26 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
For the sake of simplicity, I'm going to tlx out the prior unblock requests. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 09:44, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
The problem is that your former userpage says you are the owner of "MEA Piano Studio" which would suggest that the username is intended as a business name and not a personal name. As stated in the block template above, promotional edits and promotional usernames are not allowed. If you are willing to change your username and understand that putting links to your business on your userpage is against policy I'm happy to unblock you. You can easily request a rename at this link. Best, Tiptoety talk 10:06, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
