Orphaned non-free image (Image:AB-Ashley Bickerton.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AB-Ashley Bickerton.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 06:05, 16 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:AB-Abstract_Painting_for_People_4_LM9869.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AB-Abstract_Painting_for_People_4_LM9869.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MER-C 12:27, 7 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you Ashley Bickerton?

edit

Are you Ashley Bickerton? If so, please read WP:COI. If not, how are you uploading images created by Ashley Bickerton and claiming that you are the creator? Corvus cornix 20:35, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think it's the case that the uploader is releasing the copyright of the photographs (which is dubious, as they are a derived work of the subjects) whilst the subject remains copyrighted and is being used under fair-use. Angus Lepper(T, C, D) 20:36, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please read Wikipedia:Copyright problems, the section beginning Copyright owners who submitted their own work to Wikipedia. Wikipedia needs proof that you have the right to release these images under the GFDL license. Corvus cornix 20:40, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use disputed for Image:AB-Green Head w Inlay 1 LM10634.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:AB-Green Head w Inlay 1 LM10634.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. effeietsanders 12:15, 27 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Duplicate images uploaded

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ERATOID 2007.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:28.YELL-0177 ERATOID, 2007 Resin, acrylic and ink 15 5-8 x 11 1-2 x 4 inches.jpg. The copy called Image:28.YELL-0177 ERATOID, 2007 Resin, acrylic and ink 15 5-8 x 11 1-2 x 4 inches.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 23:30, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I noticed that you have contributed many bits of information on this artist, yet, there are not citations on your contributions. There are many other links to his work in collections and these are not mentioned in the piece. Proposed deletion of Dustin Yellin

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dustin Yellin, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No sources found to support notability of the subject.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
