I'd like to compile year-by-year lists for #1 players for some of the major countries

Hi, I don't think that there are any articles in which the #1 players are listed for various countries on a year-by-year basis, ie, Budge 1939, Riggs 1940, Kramer 1946, etc. etc. I have a couple of *real* encyclopedias where I can get the yearly ratings for the American players (generally the top 10 for each year), and I recently found a nice Australian Website where they have a page with the top Aussies each year from 1930 through 1976. I could therefore compile my own lists from these. But no matter how much I Google I can't find similar pages for the British, French, and, oh, the Germans. Can you direct me to anything? Many thanks! Hayford Peirce (talk) 21:07, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I don't know any off hand but will keep an eye out for such pages as I go about doing my tennis edits. All the best with what sounds like what will be an excellent addition to WP Mayumashu (talk) 02:51, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Colin Dowdeswell

Hi your previous edit here Grand Prix Tennis Championship Series 1970-1989 Colin did indeed represent Rhodesia and also GB at various times during his career information from official sources here ATP Doubles Draw Toronto 1978 state he was representing Great Britain during the Canadian Open 1978.--Navops47 (talk) 10:15, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

ATP.com has a gliche in their recording keeping system, that all their records for a player will give the country of representation as the last country they ever represented, in cases where a player switched representation - Ivan Lendl is American, though he only started representing the States, officially, in the early 1990s; a lot of South Africans likewise, as also Libor Pimek, another Czech., and some others. ATP.com's records should, according to this gliche, say he only ever represented GB. I'm surprised to hear you saying, if I get you right, that their records do indeed show that he represented Rhodesia at times too?? To take a further more recent example, Dustin Brown switched representation from Jamaica to Germany at the start of this year, or there abouts, but their records, for tournament draws, will show him as representing Germany in 2009 etc., when he did not. Another one is Artem Sitak. The fact is Dowdeswell represented Rhodesia in 1978, but one would have to dig up a newspaper article from the time as a source, I guess. Hi I am aware of this issue and don't dispute your findings however when I started the article I was advised by tennis wiki project members that I must provide source evidence for that supports the article agree with your last comments if one could find a newspaper report confirming that then indeed change. I will add a note into the article about this --Navops47 (talk) 10:55, 11 July 2011 (UTC)
