A.D. Read, *not* J.P.L. Reid edit
Cleaning up Flag Officer, East Africa, I have just come across your listings of "Flag Officer East Africa". Notwithstanding that your original source 13 quite clearly links to a citation for "Flag Officer East Africa and Zanzibar," as is verifiable through other web citations, you then via [1] edit linked the sourced officer Rear Admiral A.D. Read to Peter Reid (Royal Navy officer), whose initials are J.P.L. Reid, rather than A.D. Read!! The two officers are clearly distinguishable via the listing at [2]. I have just reviewed your edits at North America & West Indies Station and seen your inaccurate replacement of SNOWI with Commodore West Indies at [3] on 7 June 2018. I inserted the correct data on 15 June 2008 - that the A & WI station was replaced by SNOWI [4]. While the reference supporting the edit disappeared (UK Chiefs of Staff Committee, Command in the Caribbean, DEFE 5/188/4, January 1971, via The National Archives) another clear reference can be seen here - https://ziladoc.com/download/the-naval-review-3_pdf - page 68 of that issue of the Naval Review. I would kindly ask you again to ensure that any of your wholesale copying over from Colin Mackie's site is carefully checked - I am losing my patience running around cleaning up after your edits of dubious competence!! Primary sources are original materials that are close to an event, and are often accounts written by people who are directly involved. They offer an insider's view of an event, a period of history, a work of art, a political decision, and so on. Primary sources may or may not be independent sources. An account of a traffic incident written by a witness is a primary source of information about the event; similarly, a scientific paper documenting a new experiment conducted by the author is a primary source on the outcome of that experiment. Historical documents such as diaries are primary sources.[c]
Policy: Unless restricted by another policy, primary sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia, but only with care, because it is easy to misuse them.[d] Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation. A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge. For example, an article about a novel may cite passages to describe the plot, but any interpretation needs a secondary source.
- Do not analyze, evaluate, interpret, or synthesize material found in a primary source yourself; instead, refer to reliable secondary sources that do so.
- Do not base an entire article on primary sources, and be cautious about basing large passages on them.
Just thought this kind of reminder might be helpful, as, far as I can see, you have created multiple articles based on interpretations of the Navy List, for example, Rear-Admiral, Alexandria, and then edit warred with me when I attempted to bring the articles more in line with policy. Tennis Archives edit
Hi Navops! Sorry to pounce on your edits so quickly at Ip Koon Hung. Something to keep in mind with the Tennis Archives website is that the data is very much incomplete. There are some editors here that discourage using it as a source completely, but I've usually found that what is listed to be reliable (except for how every second player was apparently born in Scotland, eg Ip) Tournaments appearances for example are selective and limited to singles draws. As such, any claim of a player's career span is dubious if based on that data, as for example they may have featured in an earlier or later tournament in doubles only.
Thanks a lot for your brilliant work on creating tournaments articles. They're filling an important information gap and have been of great use to me personally.

- Hello its no problem the reason I added the start date for his first tournament the US Champs was that it started in September and the HK Nat Grass Courts were usually held in October per TA and confirmed in this SCMP newpaper report source from 1971. Throughout its run was staged at the HK Cricket Club. Also we can confirm he was playing till at least 1964 per HK Tennis Association. - Definatley notable for historical reasons the USTA had only existed 4 years so any club incuding the two ive done small pages for that were member of the USTA during the 19th centry warrants a page IMO. Also meets WP Tennis Project Notability historical tournaments. To remind eveyone an encyclopedia defination from Oxford Univerity. noun a book or set of books giving information on many subjects or on many aspects of one subject and typically arranged alphabetically. In this case Tennis and therefore tours circuits tournaments tennis promoters tennis players are the many aspects of the one subject. Anthony Troup was a rear-admiral when commanding Far East Fleet (United Kingdom) edit
I must ask you not to keep making elementary errors. When in its last stages in 1971, Far East Fleet (United Kingdom) was not large enough to warrant a vice-admiral in command. I added years ago a note saying that the last ships of the fleet paraded past Rear-Admiral Anthony Troup before sailing for home. In this edit you upgraded Troup to a vice-admiral.
