PWI Tag team reigns list

Why do you keep altering the lenghts of several combined tag team reigns on the PWI list. Those numbers are in accordance with the respective promotions tag team reigns pages but you keep changing them without a source. Unless you provide one I'll keep changing it back. WWE Hall of Fame

Greetings! I have reverted your changes to WWE Hall of Fame for two reasons.

1) Wikipedia has a stern policy regarding fair use images. If it isn't freely licensed we can't include it in a list.

2) We need to keep the blurbs brief and include only the highlights. Otherwise the page would be twice as long. Let's take this edit for example. Ric Flair is credited with being a 16 time world heavyweight champion. Does it really matter how many tag team belts he held? Also, his tag history is covered in the Four Horsemen blurb. Besides you can't just pick and choose who to have a detailed highlights list for.

I am aware that those images are already on Wikipedia. However, because they are fair use, we have to be very selective in how we use them. Using them on a bio to show what someone who died years ago looks like is justifiable. Using them on a list page where the images are essentially decorative is not.

As for length, it is true that there are no real limitations on length, but lets not forget the real purpose of the notes section: it's an overview, nothing else. I can assure you that Ric Flair's runs with the World Titles had a LOT more to do with his induction than anything else. If one wants to learn more about Ric Flair, it's Wikipedia so we have a page for him with more detail. And what does it say if we have 200 words about Flair, then only a sentence about (for example) Bobo Brazil. That's probably going against our neutrality policy. And yes you were cherrypicking, because one could easily expand the blurbs for anyone else (ie. Jerry Lawler, who may have won more titles than anyone else in the Hall of Fame) yet you only chose a couple to expand. -- Scorpion⁰⁴²² 22:55, 19 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but who are you? I've been editing this section of the page for a number of years, and I'd like to make some points. First, the linked superscripts you added refer to outdated issues of the magazine. They don't reference anything current. Second, I'm assuming you neglected to notice the very first entry in the References section at the bottom of the page entitled "The New PWI", which was retrieved on August 16, 2012 from a post that was published in PWI's blog on December 16, 2009. In that post, the editor included an updated list of recognized world titles which was used as the basis for the list on the Wikipedia page. Nowhere in that list does it include any of the changes you made in Wikipedia.

Unfortunately, the blog was removed in 2015 due to inactivity. And since receiving your message, I've tried contacting PWI to clarify this matter twice with no response. I will keep trying, and in the meantime, I'll leave what you edited as is on the Wiki page. There are quite a number of references in the article to support what is now on the page - mainly from the actual back issues of PWI from the time. These adequately explain the PWI family of magazines' policies at the time regarding various world titles - the withdrawal of world title status from the WWF 1983 and its reinstatement in 1985, the PWI family's interpretation of the NWA/WCW title situation in 1991-1993, the precise point at which AWA world title recognition was withdrawn.

I do not understand why you are apparently so keen to censor the actual history of Pro Wrestling Illustrated and its actual editorial stances over the years.

Well, given the fact that I've been editing this PWI list for a number of years based on factual information before someone showed up and all of a sudden and decided to butcher the particular section of the page in question without providing credible or up-to-date references, I feel like the shoe needs to be on the other foot with this person. I admit that I am not the original creator/editor of the page, but my edits were in no way disruptive and I was never reported. And then, whoever this user is had the nerve to report ME as the culprit?! That's like punching me in the face and then playing the victim after I retaliate. Not trying to be disrespectful, but it seems to me like you need to look into this situation a little further. Just sayin'...

How long you've been editing an article before someone else comes along and makes edits has no bearing on whether or not you are vandalising the page - if you just blank off the newcomer's edits without explanation, then you become the one who is vandalising the page. As discussed above, I've made a compromise and split the section into two subsections dealing with PWI's (1) historical and (2) current positions regarding world titles. PWI's past positions are relevant and useful details which do belong on Wikipedia, and I do not see why you would object to their inclusion. 62.190.148.115 (talk) 11:32, 16 March 2018 (UTC)

Side note: PWI listed the WCW Championship as having its world title status stripped on March 26, 2001, when the company officially folded. So, the period when the title was under WWF ownership between then and December 9, 2001, is not recognized by PWI.
