Welcome! edit

Hello, Mattt1235, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Article selections edit

  1. Do-rag
  • Not as much content here as we'd like. Unfortunately, it would need just a bit more research for content, I think.
  1. Absurdity
  • This is a good one, although it is a long. I think it would require some careful thinking between pages too since some content links out into other pages that have more detailed information.
  1. Memetics
  • This is a perfect one. Lots of obvious issues that need some bold editing. However, it's a bit long and will be a lot of work so if you select it balance it with something easier.
  1. Past tense
  • This is an interesting one. Some shaping up of the first few sections is needed. You'd have to compare it to better linguistics articles to also see what else needs to be here to see if you can open up some space for other things.
  1. Sin
  • At first glance, I thought this was a terrible idea. But it turns out that actually there is a really interesting discussion going on there that you might jump into about whether or not sin can or should be a concept extended to non-Abrahamic religions. That is coming into tension with Wikipedia's "worldwide perspective" policy. I'm not sure that you could effectively intervene in this in a way that could be implemented...but if you want to do it, you could put together a new version in a sandbox and see if people come in to confirm that your version is appropriate. Let's talk about it in person if you want to do it.

You're welcome to grab two of those I've added to the list. We can still talk about "sin" if you'd like though...it is an interesting case of an article that you'd think would have different kinds of issues. Etherfire (talk) 23:09, 16 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
