Hello, Mattmgc, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes

edit

Hi! I saw that you were looking to edit on gun control in Virginia! Just as a precaution, make sure that you use the strongest possible sources and be as neutral as possible, as this topic area is always going to be one with a lot of controversy. That said, the sourcing you have so far looks good. Just be careful when looking at popular media sources, as they may not always be the strongest sourcing. Something like this looks good.

My only notes so far would be to make sure that you stick to Wikipedia's formal writing style, as some parts are a little casual such as the use of "in fact". Also, I wasn't sure if this was meant to be its own article or a subsection. I would recommend that it be a section in the main article, which is on the lighter side and this would be one of the best targets for this. Definitely get back to me (best options would be to email me or contact me on my talk page) if you have any questions or want any help with this. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:32, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
