Your note re Draft:Matthew Ginsberg

Hi Mattginsberg1 and thank you for your note. Anyone can edit Wikipedia, but general guidance is that autobiographies are a bad idea – this article gives guidance, but the in-a-nutshell issue is that you (or any members of your family) are unlikely to have a neutral point of view and there is a clear conflict between your aims and that of Wikipedia. If your intention is to promote your own interests – business, reputation or otherwise – that doesn't sit well with what Wikipedia aims to do, which is to present neutral material. In practice, many articles are created by individuals about themselves, but you would be wise to read round some of the issues that may arise and I'd suggest declaring your interest on your talk page especially as your user name gives a clear hint of who the author is. Be aware that other editors can and will change the page if they don't agree with the tone or feel the information is not properly supported – you don't 'own' any page that you write even if the article is about you. The article itself was not substantial enough on references when I checked it and the tone was not encyclopaedic, so there is some work to do. Libby norman (talk) 15:47, 27 July 2014 (UTC)
