Welcome! edit

So far, most of my contributions are music-related. I rewrote and added to articles on Gregorian Chant, Organum, Tanpura and jivari (Indian Classical Music). Actually, getting involved in editing has led me to do more specific reading on various subjects. One of thes days I want to try and upload some facsimile reproductions of chant and organum, and maybe make pointers to a relevant discography. Martinuddin (talk) 11:43, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

semiology edit

Hi. The proper way to add a new article describing a new meaning for a term which is already in WP is to make a disambiguation page. In this particular example, I've moved Semiology to a new page, Semiology (Gregorian Chant), while I've edited the originally redirect page into a disambiguation page to reflect the two meanings of the word. The problem was that Semiology was and still is linked from various articles related to Semiotics, and not to Gregorian Chanting, and directing users to a completely different topic wouldn't be OK. Proposed deletion of Melodic restitution edit

The article Melodic restitution has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unreferenced since 2008, I can find nothing on google scholar about this term, even in light of the articles claim of there being much published...

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Melodic restitution for deletion edit

A discussion has begun about whether the article Melodic restitution, which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Melodic restitution until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.

FAR notice edit

I have nominated Gregorian chant for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Dana boomer (talk) 14:29, 24 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
